Went by today, and they had a bunch of stuff super cheap. I got all this for 15.58 including tax.  They still had a bunch of freshwater stuff, everything else was cleaned out.

Wife told me last month that they were going out of business.

Will have to go by and see what they have left.

Went there today and loaded up, too.

They had a new Shimano Cardiff for $45 but a guy was looking at it and then bought it.  Had he passed it up I would have bought it.

Seems Boaters World is owned by Ritz Camera and it had to be sold since Ritz went bankrupt.

Got a lot of stuff for only $21.  :D

I have loaded up on a lot of stuff at the store here in Tallahassee also.  I can't really say that I am sorry to see them go.  I have never dealt with such a sorry retailer in all my life.

I have been receiving E-mails from their online store advertising 10% off on a number of items, no sales tax, and free shipping.  The prices are not 10% off of the MSRP and I don't think Boater's World ever sold them for more than the MSRP.

They are not charging sales tax on items shipped to Florida even though they still have at least one store operating in Florida.  I filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Revenue.

I stopped by the one up in Woodbridge today.   They were picked over, still had some tackle though.  I picked up a nice Falcon rod for $50.  Those of you that have gone into the Midlothian one, do they have any rods, reels or sunglasses left?

haha nice Simon. The one in springfield is already gone...

Buying from a store that is giving a nice deals, then turn around and backstab. There may be some extenuating circumstances.

Bad karma !

There a stores that I don't care for, deal or not I just don't go in.

Sorry to them go I liked their shoe department.

WTG Simon, I see quite a few packs of the Rage Tail baits in your picture.

I purchased 100 packs of Rage Tail baits at $2.50 a pack a few weeks ago and just bought another 40 packs at $1.50 a pack a few days ago all from the Woodbridge, VA store. The store closes at the end of the month.

I there anything(freshwater baits) left at the Midlothian store? Also can anyone give me directions from 64 west to get there? May make  trip this week. Thanks

From Charlottesville, exit off I-64 at exit 175 onto Route 288.

Exit Route 288 at Midlothian Turnpike.

(Be careful as the Lucks Lane exit is right before and you can accidentally get off onto Lucks Lane if you are not paying attention)

Follow Midlothian Turnpike to Richmond, by going through the village of Midlothian.

Look for Tackle Express on your right.  When you see Tackle Express on your right, but sure to get into the left hand lane.

Look for Stein Mart Shopping Center with the Olive Garden restaurant.

Pull in and bear to the right.

Store is to the right, adjacent to Midlothian Turnpike.

Most stuff is gone but you can check it out.

Opps!

Forget Lucks Lane.

I was too far down. You will not encounter Lucks Lane.

Just look for the Midlothian exit and head east.  :)

What part of the law do you not understand?  If they ship an item to Florida and they have a store in Florida they are supposed to pay sales tax.

Not according to their web site which I would assume has been looked over before posting by their attorneys. The way I read it was they pay the sales tax, you don't.

No Tax

You never pay sales tax! We are not required to collect sales and use tax on deliveries throughout the US, except where we have business locations and in those states we pay ALL sales taxes (California, Kansas and Maryland). For customers in these states, our price includes all applicable taxes. To satisfy Maryland consumer reporting rules, we will show sales tax and an amount equal to the sales tax will be discounted from our regular low price. The order total will be the same as our regular low prices without tax.

Would a law abiding person knowing that a company has done a legal wrong, even after the fact, still want to be part of their illegal misdealing? I'm not sure if aid and abetting would apply (one is just as guilty as the principal, before or after the fact)?  I know one is an online purchase and the other an instore purchase, but both under the umbrella of the main company.

If I felt that strong I would have returned the merchandise or at least donated it to a church or worthy organization to clear my conscience of any act of wrongdoing that I unknowingly was part of. In my eyes this would turn a negative act into a positive one.

I paid sales tax on items purchased from their brick and mortar store.  I assume that they will remit those sales taxes to the state.

The disclaimer you quoted does not mention Florida.  The disclaimer indicates that they are only submitting sales tax collections to California, Kansas, and Maryland.  Any online retailer that has a store within Florida must pay sales tax on items shipped into the state.
