Chimborazo Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Anybody been yet this year? I went a couple of weeks ago an caught a small LMB, and then on Sunday all I caught was a small crappie. It was really windy, making casts really annoying. I caught both fish on a small chartreuse beetle spin. Quote
Link Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I'm going to maybe head over this later this week, but def. sometime next week as I'll be on Spring Break! Oh the benefits of being a teacher.. Quote
Link Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Wife is home, I'm off Daddy Duty for the next few hours. I'm off with my brother in law to Rooty, water will be cold I'm sure so it should be slow. On Spring Break, can't turn down anytime to fish!! Quote
Link Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Skunked it....As expected. It was pretty cool out (more than I thought when I left the house) and the wind was pretty tough. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 8, 2009 Super User Posted April 8, 2009 Link, we have a cold front passing through Richmond today. Of course you got skunked. Today is not the day to go fishing. April 9th is the full moon and is the best day to go fishing. I am heading to a private 40-acre pond this Thursday with the guy who hunts deer behind my house. We expect to catch about 10 each throwing Senkos and finesse worms. I will let you know how we do. Quote
Chimborazo Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I might head to Rooty tomorrow evening to try my luck. Good luck Sam! Quote
hokiefisherman93 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 anyone hit up rooty at all the past couple weeks? any luck and if so what on. Quote
Chimborazo Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I have, and it's not been good. There's so much grass/algae in that lake it's annoying. I'm going to start trying the other ones in the area. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 24, 2009 Super User Posted April 24, 2009 The pond is the one off Route 60 at Patriot's Landing. We did OK. I caught two keepers on a shaky had and my friend caught two dinks, one pike and one bream on a crappie rig. Water temp was too cold when we fished. Hopefully the fishing will be better when the temperature rises. Lots of grass in one section and deep water by the dam area off Route 60. You can park your vehicle and walk the dam area and along part of the shore if you want to fish the pond. Supposedly there are some large bass in this lake. There is another lake above the one adjacent to Route 60 and you may be able to walk around and fish it. You can launch a jon boat easily and paddle around the pond. I would estimate it is about 15 acres, if not more. So guys, give it a shot. You may do very well. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 24, 2009 Super User Posted April 24, 2009 Yes, that is the place. You did great with the map. Quote
SimonSays Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Thanks ;D I'll give it a go sometime soon in the kayak Quote
