billythekid Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Recently moved to Memphis from Jackson, Tn and was wondering if anyone in the area knew of any decent spots to bass fish. In Jackson I frequently fished Lake Graham and have heard that Glenn Springs Lake is similar in size and makeup (I have fished at Glenn Springs one time but it was too windy to get anything accomplished). I just brought my boat up and am looking for some spring/summer spots to try. Any tips or information are greatly appreciated, thanks, Caleb Quote
lineslinger Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Don't know where in Memphis you live, but when I lived there, which was quite some time ago, Herb Parsons Lake in Shelby Forest was pretty nice. There are also some great reservoirs down I-55 in MS, Sardis, Enid, Grenada and Arkabutla There are also a lot of lakes off the MS river that used to be pretty good. Also, for a diversion, if you travel over to West Memphis, there are tons of irrigation canals that are full of bass and Crappie. Hope this helps and wish you the best of luck! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 27, 2009 Super User Posted April 27, 2009 Welcome aboard! Pickwick Lake is less than two hours away. Horseshoe (AR) is a close option; Tipton County Lake (MS) is another. Just south of Memphis, in northern MS, are the best crappie lakes in the world: Arkabutla, Sardis, Flower, Enid and Grenada. All lakes are great bass producers, too! The smallmouth in my avatar were caught on the Tennessee River below Pickwick Dam, technically, Kentucky Lake. Maybe we could get together some weekend and do some fishing. 8-) Quote
