Fishing Frenzy Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I will be fishing orange lake and possibly lake lochloosa this weekend and was curious what type of success people have had on these waters. I know of a few spots near the public boat ramp on 441 where I have heard of nice fish as well as on the NE side of the lake between what locals call the twenty brothers and seven sister palms. Thanks for any help. Quote
etommy28 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 have not fished it in a while, but this time last year, we were catching them near grass lines in 3-4 feet of water with top water and flukes. If it were me I would fish orange, lochloosa had a fish kill in the winter. Quote
Fishing Frenzy Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 Ok awesome, thanks for the heads up. Our public ramp is on orange so we will just stick to that area then. Its funny you mention the flukes because i just stocked up on them and a few spinnerbaits for this trip. Hopefully i will find the fish. Quote
Fishing Frenzy Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 As a slight update we went for a short fish this saturday and caught seven total fish in 1-1/2 hr and within sight of the boat ramp because of engine trouble. The Terminator spinnerbait was the most productive lure with a culprit worm a close second. Again I went fishing on sunday for about two hours and landed 12 bass. Nothing of too large size yet but most were about 2lbs. I will be going back again this weekend hopefully for a much longer time. Updates will come along with some pictures of the big one....I hope. Fishing Frenzy Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 Well I have been to orange lake a few times now. I have yet to get the big mama but we have been productive regardless. Alot of smaller fish 1-2lbs and just a few in the 3lb range. The most productive bait has been a chartuse terminator spinnerbait and a close second was a watermelon seed zoom speed worm with a split shot one foot above the hook. Hopefully going back on thursday....more pictures and hopefully larger fish! Quote
gatrboy53 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 the extreme s. end on the left or east side which is called cane hammock all the way upto cow hammock has held some good fish for awhile now in the pads and stick ups.most are the size of the ones you are catching but if you get in the right place the big mamas are there. to discourage the smaller fish i use the mag. speed worm w/ a 1/16 weight in red bug or wat. red.a f11 silver/black rapala can be killer as well.the s.b. is excellent also.also on the opposite end of the lake on the right side there is a big cove.that whole cove is givin up some biggies.fish in and around the scattered hydrilla.same baits but at times you have to soak a fluke or worm to get bit. oh, and dont forget the toad .around the pads and topped hydrilla it can be killer Quote
Fishing Frenzy Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 As a little update i went fishing again today and i lost count of how many we caught. We kept a few that we a couple pounds. We fished McCormick island and gator hole extensively. Both of these places produced the best amount of bass. We used a watermelon red speed worm with a split shot a foot above the hook. Pitching this combo in lily pads i landed this mama. We weighed her and it came to 9lbs on a cheap scale. Quote
