George Welcome Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 The right place, at the right time, and the right bait get you the right fish. Quote
fivesixone Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 WOW! :o That is probably one of the coolest looking bass I've ever seen! Amazing! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 17, 2009 Super User Posted March 17, 2009 Nice pic, too! 8-) Quote
TyTy Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 No weight on that sucker? I know you have a pair of Boca Grips in the boat. That fish looks hefty. Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted March 19, 2009 Super User Posted March 19, 2009 I have got to get down to the Marsh Quote
Tpayneful Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I caught this one not far from George on Stick Marsh a little over a week ago. Quote
Tpayneful Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Another great Stick Marsh Bass! Of course I broke the U bolt plate holding my axle to the leaf springs on the rough gravel road. The fender on my trailer broke off. The screws holding my on board charger came out. I lost both screw out butts to my extreame rods all of that on the way in or out. On the water I only broke the transducer mount. With all that said it was well worth it! Quote
George Welcome Posted March 21, 2009 Author Posted March 21, 2009 Missed fish for his fishing partner was a real monster. It's tough working that wood, both on boat and body, but well worth it right now. However Tpayneful got to the location and threw the bait needed to have a fantastic trip. Here's another from the same area. Quote
Tpayneful Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 My boat is small but really old so I didn't mind getting into the stump field. A lot of the guys with the newer boats stayed out at the edge of the field because they were worried about their boats. I can tell you this......I am buying a new boat this year and next year I will take it into the stump fields on Stick Marsh because that is where the fish are spawning! We caught a ton of fish with a good percentage of them over 5lbs. I could not find an opening last year to go out with George on Stick Marsh but I will say that he is a great guide! Last year I introduced myself and George was always pleasant on the water and gives you helpful information! This year I started fishing into his area and I asked him if he wanted me to take a wide path around him. He responded that their are plenty of fish and to go whereever we wanted! What kind of guide shares water? We had a fantastic time, we all caught a ton of fish and George is good for a few laughs! If you want to fish Stick Marsh I would suggest that you hire George to show you the lake. His navigational advice and lure tips and techiques are well worth the money! Quote

TyTy Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 hi, where i can find a motel or hotel or other near stick marsh, for 3 fishers ? and somebody have a maps of deep about lake blue cypress ? thanks for your help The hotels are over to the east in Sebastian on Hwy 1. I suggest you book ahead of time, the time I went we didnt book ahead and I think 3 of the 4 we stopped to check at had no vacancy and it wasent a holiday weekend or anything, just a normal Saturday. I dont think there are any hotels in Fellsmere, there are some rooms for rent though I think. I think one of the bait shops has a cuople rooms for rent. Quote
Big Mike in Fl Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 actually, north into palm bay would be your best bet for a room, it is closest to the stick marsh and there are a couple hotels right at the I95, malabar road interchange which is pretty close. Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 The bait and tackle store in Fellsmere has a room you can get. I have stayed there and it was pretty reasonable and the closests place you can stay to the stick marsh. It sleeps 6. Quote
George Welcome Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 The closest is Sebastian. The two motels on Malabar are dumps: (Best Western and Motel 6). On Palm Bay rd. is the Jamison which is good. SM Bait & Tackle is not renting the room. The place is under new ownership and they have leased the room out, but you can get a hair-do there. Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Thanks George. I did not know that. I haven't stayed there in a few years. Quote
sebcbien Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 thanks i"ll be on stick march the 11, 12 and 13 april, my boat is a ProCraft, red and white with a 115 mariner ! if somebody see me, talke to me slowly, i'm french and i don't understand all !!!!!! ;D thanks for your help Quote
TyTy Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 While we are talking about lodging...I dont suppose anyone knows if it is legal to camp at the Stick Marsh ramp area? Probably not but I have a friend who comes down to fish with me and he is anti-hotels, likes to rough it and he keeps asking me if we can camp there. I can't find anything online. Quote
George Welcome Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 It is not legal to camp at the SM Ramp area. Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 There is a very nice campsite in the area called Donald McDonald (sp?) I have stayed there a few times. They have facilities and it is on the Indian River. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 31, 2009 Super User Posted March 31, 2009 What is the closest airport to where you guys are? I was talking to one of my buddies the other day and we discussed a trip to Florida. I told him I only wanted to go to Florida if we could go with George.... Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Orlando International Airport is about 1.5 hours from Fellsmere, FL. Quote
