zgonce Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 hey everyone was wondering if anyone had a update on lake wylie i have a club tournament down there on the 28th was wondering what the fish are up too....water temp....and anything else helpful thanks alot..... Quote
done Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I have not been out there for 3 weeks but at that time I was pulling the bass out of water dept about 10 ft. My fish finder at water temp at about 51 degrees give or take a degree at that time in those areas. Course that is in my section (near the allen steam station launch). Where is your tournament at on Wylie? Quote
zgonce Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 its out of buster boyds, i have heard from a buddy that lives down close to there that the water temp is up too around 58 now but i dont know for sure Quote
done Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Alright. Yeah it was before our 70-80 degree days. Keeping in mind we are getting over 4 days of rain and gloom, it may be back down a bit. Good luck on you tourney, shot us some photos if you can. Quote
fastcasterjo Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I went out monday. I got a few fish very shallow. I think they were making there beds but thats hard to know as its hard to sight fish on wylie. But they were in less than four feet of water. But as M starr said most of the fish on in 10 ft +-. They are still transitioning to bedding and are pretty eager to eat any baitfish imitation. I would try a jerk bait on points, structure, and channels that are between deep and shallow water. I caught a 4 + lber on a jerbait fishing a point that was next to the river channel but gaurding a shallow cove. Good luck. Tell us how it goes. Quote
Btech Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I wish i could give ya some advice although the times i have gone to wiley this year have been to screw arround on my boat lol. If you can find the Firestation (on the water their boat garrage) Go under the lil bridge you see back in that cove you can sight fish assuming you can run your boat in REAL shallow water 2-5 ft I seen a few arround the 5ft mark on the finder but didnt stop to fish.... Yeah i know someone kick me., Quote
zgonce Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 fastcasterjo how was you fishing the jerkbait long or short pauses? Quote

done Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Was out last week the one we got was shallow 4ft of water which was a first for me this year in Wylie Quote
zgonce Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 it rained all day today....fished from 6:30 to 3:15 in our third tourney of the year caught 3 fish before 8:00 am on a spot remover and a deadringer. then the fish shut off like a switch managed to catch one more under buster boyds while getting out of the rain for a min lol....but all in all it was the worst tourney of the year for me..... 4 fish.......7.08 lbs Quote
done Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I am heading out into Wylie today. I tell you it has been a frustrating lake for me overall. I love it, there are a lot of premium places to fish, but I will be darned if it is not the most finicky lake. So far I have about a dozen good holes. They will be active for maybe 1-2 weeks, then nothing, maybe all year. So many places I have found there that are absolutely picture perfect Bass habitat that will yield nothing. It is a good challenge though and after fishing Wylie, when I go to some of the other places I fish (like my mothers pond) I absolutely catch the crap out of everything. Anyway, I am looking forward to today. I am guessing after 5 days of rain we are going to have some seriously clouded/muddy water. Got all sorts of vibrating, rattling, noise making stuff on deck in my box. Let everyone know how it goes. Quote
