LUVNBASSN Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Can anyone tell me where the best bass fishing lakes are around the Jackson Mississippi area? It is possible that I will be relocated there from Georgia in the near future. I might as well get the homestead search started off right. Any input is appreciated. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 13, 2009 Super User Posted February 13, 2009 Lots of places to fish for bass in Mississippi, unless you are in Starkville. There is nothing in Starkville. Do you know how to say trailer park in Indian? Its Starkville. Did you know that the LSU baseball team, when it stays in Starkvill to play MSU, has to pay an additional $20 per nite per room so they can get rooms without a view? True. Good luck. Geaux Tigers!!! ;D ;D ;D Quote
HossFly Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Yes, there are a LOT of bass in MS...uh,i guess, unless in Starkville...lol. A lot depends on where you are and how far you are willing to drive. On the Southwest side; it's bass heaven. We have Lake Bill Waller, Lake Columbia, Percy Quinn, Lake Ohkissa,(which, by the way, is the FIRST Bill Dance Signature Lake ) Calling Panther(see my other post about the 'panther), Natchez State Park Lake.......ALL have nice bass;most,if not all of them have double digit fish..... There are quit a few on the Southeast side, including some private and pay-to-fish lakes, such as Dream Strike Lake( he has a website),Lake Perry, Mike Conner, Dry Creek Lake, Lake Ross Barnett....plus a little secret..Lake Eddins..if you know someone who owns a house there;i.e. "pass card"..there are fish there that could break the state record; just ask Paul Elias (BASS Classic Champion); he has a house on the lake ...... Sooooo, to answer your question...THERE'S NO PLACE BETTER to land that trophy bass than here in good 'ole Mississippi!!! Quote
LUVNBASSN Posted February 13, 2009 Author Posted February 13, 2009 Thank you for the detailed information. If I do relocate it will somewhere within a 20 mile radious of Jackson, MS. I'll take the information you supplied and search for a work and fishing distance fit (with a 3 car garage). My 12-14 years of bassin has all been in Georgia and Alabama. I'll drop you a note if this developes and maybe you can share some Mississippi Bassin tips. Thanks again! Quote
Bubba_Bruiser Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 There is a mecca of dead lakes around the Jackson area that are supplied by the Pearl River. You have got the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Plus there are several delta lakes within probably an hour and a half drive: Eagle Lake, Bee Lake, Little Eagle, and several other public impoundments. You can go to mdwfp.com and get several depth maps for lakes and information regarding the fishing. All the ones mentioned by Hoss are good, too. Quote
