GobbleDog Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 I ain't been fishing in two weeks, so I had to make up the following report: Right now; any lake in Central Florida Weather: picture perfect Throwing a Zara Spook over hydrilla patches in crystal clear water. The fishing is kinda slow at first, only catching a bunch of 6-7 lb dinks. But then a monster 15 lb bohemith blasts my topwater and the drag screams as the hog runs into open water. After a 10 minute slugfest between man vs beast, I eventually land the pig and let her go. Overall, an average day fishing. Quote
warmer Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 nicely done gobbledog, i was in the same tourny as lee up there ^. it was a tough tourny for many. we caught small limits both days... under a two pound average, and it was good enough for 21st place out of the 117. i found one little area with dirty hydrilla behind an inside grass line that had little keepers in it and they were toad hungry... other than that it was flipping grass around bird, inside and out. in good news. and gobbledogs post struck the chord, ive been out in auburndale for a few days at lake arrietta, and the fish are hungry... big post spawn fish... and if you time it right you can get them to come up and eat a topwater in 12-15 feet of water. saturday i got a 7lber 2 5lbers 2 4lbers and about 15 more in the 2lb class. this morning i went out and threw topwater for an hour and caught a 6lber, a 4lber, and about 4 little keepers. CFFF 1.5 Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Sanford, Lake Monroe Saturday Tourney Winning weight 20lbs Weather PC Wind WSW 15 - 20 Water Upper 70's Air 75 - 90 Deltona Small Boat Club Classic. Winning weight 20lbs all caught in Lake Mornoe. (not me unfortunately) 2nd place - 8lbs 3rd place - 6lbs (me) 4th place - 5.75lbs Big Fish 6.08lbs Lake was nice until about 7:00am and then got really windy. Chocolate colored water started moving in from the river and really dirtied everything up. Bass were in the grass and were on in the early morning. The lake is pretty low but fishable. Rattletraps seemed to be the go to bait. Quote
warmer Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 kissimmee. sat. 10th. tournament out of camp mac fishing was better than it has been for awhile. culled 2 fish by 8:30. fishing inside grass lines in 2-4 ft. couldnt really get it going w/ the flipping bite, so still casting toad and worms. lost a 5lber that would have improved us to 15lbs, but not to the money. it took 16.5 to cash a check, with 2 bags over 20lbs. flipping in kissimmee was tough. not sure where the weight came from, but most boats headed north. out of camp mack, so im suspicious open water is producing the big bite. ended the day with 13lbs. John C Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Warmer sounds like you did DARN good! What exactly is "culling" ha ha ha As for boats going north the gates at Southport are open, causing a current at lower end canals.Maybe the "running water" pattern was "ON." I'll be out there this weekend. Not looking forward to muddy water caused by high wind yesterday, today, through Tuesday . 13LBS!! I'll take it Quote
alger319 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I had a tourny on the Harris Chain on Saturday. our pattern we had didn't work out due to the weather, but we still caught our limit 8.33 lbs which was only good for 22nd place. 1st place had 18+ lbs. we caught our fish off aruku shad in kissimme grass with eel grass patches scattered around it. warmer Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 i heard the fish are still eating on outside grass at toho, if you can find the unsprayed stuff... also heard through the grapevine that the responsibility for weed control has shifted to more fish friendly hands. Quote

gar-tracker Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 what are good area to fish the harris chain in september? any ideas would be appreciated or any ideas on a pattern. thanks in advance I like the main lake in the morning and then I go to the canals when the sun gets high. However I don't know the present water levels up there, real low water may make the canals too low. Quote
HOWIE419 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Are the water levels up enough to navigate between toho and kisssimmee does anybody know? At one point i had hears cypress was too low but i wondered if they have been getting all yhis rain we have bben getting in the ocala area Quote

HOWIE419 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 thanks for the advice what is it i need to be aware of? Quote
warmer Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 if you are going into cypress from the north you will want to go straight out between the markers keeping on the same course as the canal for at least 100 yds. if you are coming north, you will want to swing wide to the east and line up between the markers so that you come in on a line w/ the canal. if you are uncertain, just idle it one time and youll see what i mean. HOWIE419 Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 thanks for the advice man i appreciate it. I have't been doen there in two years so i am in the dark. Any advice on where or how to fish the chain? Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted July 23, 2008 Author BassResource.com Advertiser Posted July 23, 2008 They should be outside deep grass lines.....somebody needs to tell the K bass that though. Quote
warmer Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 lol, im with lee on that one, fishing has been tough. seems like bigger stringers are coming from up north (toho), but the bite has been slow. itd be nice to tell you there are numbers somewhere, but other than a thursday two weeks ago i havent had a good day in awhile. my last tournament i caught 13.8lbs, but only 6 keepers all day. if you figure them out, let me know. pm me if youd like specific info. HOWIE419 Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Anybody done any fishing on the harris chain lately? Quote
warmer Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 The water is up again at kissimmee, so a lot of water should open up again. Whether or not they will eat will be anyones guess, but i like it this way better than the alternative. Quote
warmer Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 yeehaw, gotta love a good lot of rain. if you need to believe in kissimmee again. get out there while the water is running. it is easy to put 30 fish in the boat. anywhere the water is moving you can catch them. cranking.... wormin... pick your poison. the feeder creeks have slowed down, but the main canals and lake fed canals are moving. BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted September 2, 2008 Author BassResource.com Advertiser Posted September 2, 2008 Yea, only if the wind is not blowing 30 mph out of the south....kind of like yesterday....... Quote
warmer Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 i was getting four foot swells over the front of my boat, where the current coming south hit the waves coming north. that did seem to slow the bite, if not kill it. Quote
