Bassboss Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I see these threads about peacocks, and hear they are some hard fighting fish! I was thinking that these things were only south of WPB but than I see Speed Worm in Gainesville, FL with a peacock! So back to the point: Were in Jupiter (or some were within 30 min of it) can you catch these things! Quote
GLADES Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 In Lake Ida, lake Osbourne, and the canals adjacent. Use crankbaits or live shiners from shore. If you have a boat, it definately improves your chances. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted December 13, 2008 Super User Posted December 13, 2008 Yo Bassboss, are you being funny or just stubborn. Glades and M&M Fishing gave you the best spots within a 30 min ride from Jupiter. Heres another spot for ya. Carry your butt to Forest Hill Blvd and the Turnpike. (yes they are both in Florida.) Access the turnpike canal by the bicycle race track. Tie a lure to your fishing line. Cast your lure into the water and retrieve said lure. Walk the bank north or south casting your lure into the water until you catch a PEACOCK. The Rapala minnow in black over gold or black over silver work well but your best bet would be shiners or shad. You can buy the lures I mentioned at any Wal-Mart, Sports Authority or tackle shop. You can either catch your own shiners or buy them at the bait store. And yes, the shiners work better if they are alive. Try the shiners with and without a bobber. You can use either spinning or baitcasting gear. Use between #4 and #10 mono. They bite best in the day time. yes they are good eating. Yes you need a fishing license if your 16 or older. No they won't hurt if they bite your thumb. Yes there are snakes along the canal banks so be careful. That should pretty much cover it. I'll write more if I think of anything else. Good Luck.. Quote
SoFl-native Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 The closest to Jupiter............the C51. About 25 minutes. Quote
George Welcome Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 The closest to Jupiter............the C51. About 25 minutes. Not if you are walking. This a 15 year old asking about the Peacocks, so I doubt that he is driving. Quote
SoFl-native Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 15 yr old + dad/mom in car= driving either way i dont think he was asking for peacock spots within a 30 minute walk from Jupiter. Quote
senko_77 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I remember when I joined here, whenever I would ask a question people would be more than happy to answer it no matter how basic it was. Guess things have changed....it seems this whole forum has changed. not very "family" like anymore. It's too bad. Sorry it's not welcoming anymore BassBoss. I can't answer your questions because I don't live in Florida but I'm sure you can email some of our ex-members who left like Whittler and Flyrod who left because this forum changed. They will answer your questions for sure! Quote
