Anyone here have some experience putting in at the Port Mayaca Boat Ramp?  If so, how is it as far as ramp conditions and is the fishing on the Central East side of the lake any good? Should I consider putting in further north or south?

I'd be willing to take someone out in the area fishing for exchange for some pointers.

Thanks in advance and tight lines!

Mr. Welcome,

I plan on taking my Ranger 185vs Intracoastal Edition and preferably fishing the east side of the lake if its any good (?) or the perimeter canal.

Thanks,

Robert

Its not bad, but you better check to see if the lock is open, it was closed a few weeks back.

Also have you fished over there before? If so you know its a trechorouse area.lots of rocks.

Thanks for the heads up, have never fished that side before and since I just bought the boat I think I will avoid it.

Yes!! Even with normal water you have to go straight out staying in the channel then turn only north about 300 yards past that peninsula of rocks that runs parallel to the channel, never south, forget south from there, its a mine field. But you're ok going north paralleling the shore then easing in towards shore, some great summer fishing over there, J&S, Harney Locke, especially with the water almost at 14. All that flooded grass. They tore them up in the J&S canal all summer, but personally I don't care if I see another Rim Ditch for 20 years. Im going out of OkeeTanti this weekend I cant wait.

Rough ramp: good for smaller boats - Mayaca lock reopens the 29th.

Pahokee ramps much better - also Belle Glade is good.

Lake lever 13.81 today: Pahokee rocks always been a good spot for bass.
