snapper G Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 What are any of you in Florida doing about Fay? do you think it will evolve into a hurricane??? And how do you think will affect the bass fishing? Thanks for coming fay!! The lake that I been fishing at has had an explosion in bass bites!!! Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 I'm not worried about fay, I live near Daytona Beach and shouldn't get much more than 30-40 mph wind and rain. Yes it will affect the fishing especially if the water level rises at all. Quote
snapper G Posted August 17, 2008 Author Posted August 17, 2008 I'm getting cans and water, in my town, the power goes out when a bird flies over!! And + after William, i'm not taking the risk, however i'm still not butting up shutters, i'm more worried about the water then anything ! Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted August 17, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted August 17, 2008 the lake levels are still down....bring on the RAIN! Quote

senko_77 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Man, we need this rain so desperately in Georgia right now. I hope it doesn't effect many in Florida, but I am so glad that the projected path is pointing right for the metro Atlanta area. Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 18, 2008 Super User Posted August 18, 2008 I hope that sucker hits all of Virginia this weekend. Local pond is three feet low on water. You can walk across the Historic James River. And the crops are not in good shape. Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 18, 2008 Super User Posted August 18, 2008 P.S. - Go to Weather Underground to see the computer models and tracking of the storm and future storms. Great site and it is a must to check before you go fishing. www.weatherunderground.com Quote
Certified Public Angler Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 supposedly it is aiming right at Tallahassee, but I am also welcoming the rain to help out my pond that's low. Quote
Bean Counter Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I don't wish any damage on any of you Florida boys, but We Georgians are all praying for Fay to come up here and sit over us for about a week. This drought sucks. Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I just got back from struggling in the canoe, but I caught one decent fish, so I guess Fay didn't stop the bite. I'm >5 minutes from Orlando in Winter Park. It is really windy out with a light drizzle. Quote
MattStrykul Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 We are staying in Punta Gorda just north of Fort Myers. No damage, and no lunkers today. Caught 7 up to 3 lbs. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted August 20, 2008 Super User Posted August 20, 2008 The time to go was on monday afternoon during the falling barometer. The fish were exploding like pirhanas and were whacking anything on site. The bite tuesday sucked and we haven't even had one single drop of rain in my area.I spun around in circles in my jonboat for 5 hrs and caught only one. Quote
skeetercaster Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 we needed this storm really bad,the perfect stom for us down here in Fla. slow moving, lots of rain, and light winds, fishing should improve as soon as the water clears up a bit.....see prayer works! Quote
gar-tracker Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 The good news about Fay. http://my.sfwmd.gov/sfwmd/common/images/weather/rt/rt_L.OKEE.html Quote
Certified Public Angler Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 ah man, I got up at 6:30 this morning and loaded my 12ft jon boat in the back of the truck. There was a light drizzle and clouds overhead and I was thinking I might get a good bite. I got down to the lake and the wind was blowing 20 mph. lol. I tried to fish anyways, but as soon as I paddled out of the lillies and reached for my trolling motor I was already blown back in them. I didn't even cast a line, just got blown around in circles for 10 minutes and went back home. I know, I know...its a tropical storm, I was just hoping to fish my last weekend of summer. :'( Quote
fishizzle Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 24" of rain in some parts. my heart goes out to those negatively affected. I know you are in a drought but this is extreme. Sincerely Quote
George Welcome Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 For those lakes that were low: still low. Most flooding occured in overpopulated areas where the amount of concrete and paving far outreach the areas of drainage. A very prevalent problem in Florida these days. Quote
