Anyone here fish in Southwest VA, let's say from Marion down to Bristol?  I fish all the time in Saltville and Chilhowie.  I'm wondering if there are any clubs or tournaments happening in my neck of the woods.

Hey lineman711,

I actually just got back from Marion last night!! My best friend lives down there and he got married on the 8th. If I would have known there people down that way that were into fishing I would have stayed or hell even brought my boat.

I have family in Marion and Chilhowie. Some of the best smallmouth fishing you could ever find is at South Holston Reservoir. That place is great.

Burley, you really should spend a little time on SHR. You may just catch something longer than 10".

Any time Brown, I'll meet you at the ramp.

Sounds like a fall trip is in the works. I'm down with that.

As long as you don't mind fishing out of a tiny boat. ;)

If things work out right between now and then, you'll be fishing out of a big boat.

I've heard Claytor Lake is a good smb fishery, hoping to find out as soon as I get the kinks out of my boat

It is. Claytor is a great smallmouth lake but it holds some really big largemouth too. Our last club tournament up there it took 5 @ 21+ to win. The winning bag had a 7# largemouth in it, caught under a dock on an *** trick stick. The rest of the bag was all smallmouth between 3 and 4 lbs.

Im new to SWVA and I really have no idea where to find a pond or small lake. Ive tried Hungry Mother Lake but no luck. Im only bank fishing now but I'm looking into getting a kayak in the next couple months. Any suggestions?
