Kerr/Bugg's Island

Going to be going there in about a week or so does anyone have any tips?  I've read about a good top water bite in the AM.  I plan on working plastic and jigs around isolated structure in deeper water around 6-12 feet... any tips?

I have gone there about this time of year for the past 5 years.  Rocky points in about 6ft of water are good. I usually fished Nutbush Creek. If you can get back into the coves in the early am and sunset you can see schools of stripers crashing bait on the surface, have some bucktails and spoons ready if you like stripers. I have also had luck in the middle of the day fishing from the bank, I have caught some 2-3 pounders at midday in less than 2ft of water. Good luck to you, you are lucky we were unable to find a spot   at our usual campground there this year as most of the locals are staying at the lake instead of other vacation spots due to gas prices.

Also, do a google search for " kerr lake bass fishing" you can get some decent second hand info from that board on the lake. If you post a question there don't get upset if you dont get a response though. They seem tightlipped amongst those who they don't know.

Yeah I planned on working the rocky areas that are moderately deep 5-9 foot and hope to set up a pattern from there.  I'll try for a top water bite early I guess and maybe a crank bait, even though I hate them.  I have been to the Kerr site, I've only had one response, they do seem very quiet.

I'm heading up to Kerr Lake, near Buffalo Junction JUL 26 for a week.

Any advice would be great!

I've heard about the points in 5-10 ft early in the morning on cranks.

I'm also just getting back into the swing of fishing and I'm having trouble getting back that "feel for the fishes".

Kerr is my main lake since it is a hour from me.Stripers are on right now watch the size limits and with the high temps expect high mortality rates,you need to keep em if you catch em.Bass are off the main points more now,black blue jigs,deep diving cranks are the ticket,i have done well with plastic worms but the bite is slower.As always early am late late pm it's topwater time and don't be surprised if a striper hits on the rocky points!Good luck,i'm waiting for october and on to come! ;D

Not to highjack the post, but I'm trying to get on Kerr in early October.  It's been many years since I've been there and never that late in the season, so any help would be appreciated.

Pumatrac, October is easy fishing, just go to the back of creeks and main lake coves and look for shad schools. Crankbaits, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits.
