A.Do? Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Any one know if there is a spot where i can launch a kayak? Has anyone had any luck here lately? It's been awhile since i've been out there but have been meaning to. Thanks for any info you can give me! Quote
Chai Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 i have a buddy that lives there and he says they're eatting the worm with the crazy tail 10" red/black at evening and morning, and also try the watermelon senkos weightless and fish it slow on the right side of the launch. He says he got a few 7lbers there from the cove at the tunnle on the opposite side of the lake cause of the drop off there and to hit the shaded part. Good luck buddy, i've only caught a few 1-2lbers there haven't had a hawg hog one up yet. Quote

Chai, when I figure out when I want to go I'll probably have a seat open if you're up for it we can try and figure this lake out together. I'll shoot you a PM when I decide to go. I'm leaning toward saturday morning. Thanks for the info fellers Quote
Super User Dan: Posted June 18, 2008 Super User Posted June 18, 2008 Andrew, I've been a few times this past week, mainly because I don't have to walk to far after a tiring day of work. I haven't done real well but I've found that there are some fish in shade and current and I could only get them to bite with quiet bait entries. I'm sure there are other patterns I haven't figured out and there are fish in other areas, though. Quote
A.Do? Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 Thanks for the info Dan. Idea to go this weekend is still a fart in the wind but if I do I'll be sure to let you guys know how I did. Is skipping considered a quiet entry technique? Quote

Trevor was nice enough to teach me. My question was is skipping considered a quiet entry technique. Not sure how much noise it makes as it skips across the top of the water. Quote

It all depends if you make a huge splash doing so. The key is to limit the amount of splash noise and shadow during your cast. Quote
Trevor in Burke Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 How's the pitchin' and flippin' goin anyway Andrew? We didn't really go over quiet entry just the motion of the technique. Skipping is more of a tsss tsss tsss across the surface and each skip slows it down and it eventually enters with little disruption, not like a plop from a distant cast, fact is if you can skip it far enough back where most people don't get i've found you'll entice a strike anyway, they don't see much artificals up in there. 8-) nice to see you're skipping with your baitbaster, good job! most people just give up on it after their first 30 minute birdnest picking Quote
A.Do? Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 Who said I was using the baitcaster? Haha. I still have a lot to learn with that thing. I tried skipping with it and it ROCKED me hard. I'm determined to get it down before the end of the summer though. Quote
Trevor in Burke Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 AH you cheater!! haha just kiddin' d**n man I was really excited you were already skipping with the baitcaster, Rob would have been shocked if he saw you do it... his jaw hit the deck when we were out and my tube went skittering under a tree trunk off the bank... no biggy, we'll work on that... we gotta get you takin that revo out nonstop, plus i want to check it! ha! p.s. i'm diggin the new avatar, fits perfect for this section, but I'll PM you about that! HA! get it :-? Quote

VaBass80 Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I've had tons of luck on Huntsman, I work 5mins down the street and have fished it a lot from the shore. I've caught almost all my fish on a manns -1 crankbait in a craw pattern. I've usually caught all my fish where the drain is near the street. Good luck Quote

I'll have to pick up a few craw pattern cranks and give that a shot! Quote
