TheRushFactor Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Hey yall, just started postin on the forums and I like it so far. I live in Herndon, and work near Lake Fairfax so I fish out there most of the time, but I'm looking for some small ponds in the area. Any help would be appreciated. P.S- In Chantilly, off of Brookfield Corporate Drive where that waterpark used to be, is a Fairfax County park authority building (i think) and there's a nice looking pond behind the building. I've talked to a guy that was around there, and he said he's pulled out a couple of 6 lbers just recently. Anyone know if it's legal to fish? Or maybe what the place is called? Quote
slomoe Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I drove by there the other day looking for that pond and it seemed to be gated off. I could be wrong though. Quote
HokieDJ Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I'm looking at google map and I see 2 ponds at the end of that road.. are those the ones you are talking about? I'm sure if you go on the weekends, it'll be ok. My friend and his pocket bike buddies would practice on the parking lots in that area so I'm sure it's ok as long as you give them a reason to kick you out. I'll have to check it out this weekend. JCrzy4Bass Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Hey Rush Pm sent. You are not far from an area where there are a wealth of ponds available. My dad and I took a drive out to Herndon/Centreville one afternoon with some buddies a couple weeks ago and we stumbled upon some gold mines. Mostly numbers but some fish over 2 pounds and some approaching three. Pm sent with info. Quote

Yea, last time I was there I was fishing the one pond with my buddy near the old waterpark and this guy came over and told us about it. Said he cut a hole in the fence, and we went down there(think it was a Sunday) started raining pretty bad and we didn't have any luck. My friends swears he saw a 10 lber jump though... : I'll probably head over there this weekend if you wanna meet up and go. Thanks JCrzy for all the info too man. Quote
snowslider Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Keep me in the loop on this one. I live in Herndon too and would love to find some nearby ponds. Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Hey Rush if you don't mind can you share the info I sent you with snow? I don't feel like typing it all up again lol. Good luck out there man, I'll see if we can hook up next weekend or something based on my schedule since Father's Day is that weekend. Later boss. Snow, pm sent with a tip. Quote
HokieDJ Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I tried to find the large pond but couldn't see it from the street. I did fish the small one and nothing but blue gills. Anyone fished the ponds off Avion Pkwy? Quote

Anyone fished the ponds off Avion Pkwy? No, but it looks like there's alot of ponds off of Stonecroft Blvd. too... If it doesn't rain too much tomorrow I'll head over there and fish the one near the water park and try and check out the those ones. Quote
HokieDJ Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 How did you do today? I drove by today along stonecroft and all I saw was no fishing/trepassing signs. I was tempted because I saw a guy walk out of that hidden pond but then a cop strolled by and that nixed it. Quote

I haven't gone yet, just got back from work.. still deciding on whether or not to now or tomorrow haha. What hidden pond are you talking about though? Quote
miPod Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Long-time lurker and have just started posting to the forums as well. Same question as above: live in Southern Fairfax County (i.e. Lorton), and looking for great ponds where I can get some reasonable success. Fished the ponds over at Avion a few weekends ago. My son had LOTS of success with the bluegill and I pulled in a reasonable bass, but that was about it. With that being said, would greatly appreciate any good ponds y'all have discovered in the area since the last post on this thread. Realize it's been a while, but figured I'd throw my line in and see if you guys have any new hot tips. Quote
marsfromva Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 New to the site, but have been pounding the banks for a while all over the area. There's isn't a pond, creek, retention pond that I haven't tried to catch fish. There's a nice juicy pond near Rte50 & Rte28 off Centerview Dr. right behind a Wingate Hotel. I haven't seen anyone else fish there, they're might be signs on the far side of the pond. I park in the hotel lot & fish the near corner. I've caught some mutant bluegill that have bit on nedrigs & plastic worms. @miPod seems like we're hitting some of the same places!!! Quote
