Hey guys has anyone else seen the sprees of bedding blue gill goin' crazy locally? Locust Shade has a HUGE population. If you walk around to the side opposite the pier and concession place the shoreline has a ton of blue gill beds and they are swarming all over the place.  Midway down that side of the shoreline it is next to the long wooden 2x4 outlining that area of the lake (like Lake Braddock).

One of my local ponds I see the same thing next to the grasslines. It's really cool to watch.  These guys are going crazy.  The beds are all just lined up.  I even saw one fanning a bed out, that was really cool.

I almost wanna go grab my micro light and bust out my little crappie tubes and grubs and catch me some dinner.

I believe it was in Bassmaster that I read that Bluegill will bed up just like bass, but they bed right next to each other.  I saw this about a week ago at a local pond and it looks like the dimples on a golf ball. I wasn't getting any bass hits, so I tossed a small crank with a #1 trebble and caught two very quickly.

I saw that the other day. THey were going absolutely nuts, chasing each other, baitfish, and bugs around. I'd never seen it before

I caught one on Sunday on a 3/8 oz spinnerbait. That never happens except during a spawn.

A hawgcaller says, they are GOD's swim bait. Catch some up and use them for bait (if its legal in your area). You will not regret it!

That's exactly what an old Chinese guy did off the fishing pier at Burke Lake one morning last August.  The result was a 7-8LB fatty.

Biggest fricken LMB I had ever seen.  Seeing that fish is a big part of why my interest in fishing took off late last year.
