ljmax Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Hey all, I have a tourny on the 17th of May on Lake Panasoffkee and won't have time to pre fish it. I was wondering if any of you have fished the lake and if so where should I go and what should I throw? Any info very much appreciated. I hope all of you are catching fish and have a great fishing season. Quote
basslovr Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Good luck...our club is fishing that lake the same day. I made the same post about a week ago and so far have not had much of a resonse. I think the lake was so bad for so long that noone has fished it in a long time. I heard that it was on the rebound but I guess the word has not spread yet. Maybe that will be good for our respective clubs. How many boats in your club? I think we have 10 or 11 in this tournament. 3 or 4 solos and the rest with angler and co-angler. If I don't hear back from ya, Good Luck and will probably see ya in passing on the water at some point. Tight Lines!!!! Basslovr Quote
gatrboy53 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 cant help you on a report but some insight.the lake has been in a dredging project for the last couple yrs.last i heard it still was.several key areas have been dredged and grass is already growing back.i would call tracy's to find out which part of the lake is under construction,if no other reason for safety purposes.the lake has always been noted for two bites, one is flippin the other open water lipless over submerged grass.the lake got really low but came up some first part of this yr.but not to normal levels.the dredging and low water has hurt the bite but is a good big bass lake which at times gives up good numbers. report from 4/30-Yea, I heard they were catching them way up the river as well but not until after we were done with two days of fishing . I finished with 5 fish for 6.12lbs in two days as the fishing was fairly slow. I threw a trap and a shadrap about 5000 times on day one in the eel grass potholes and managed about a dozen shorts. Missed one nice about 2-3 lbs as it spit my trap. I changed tactics on day two and found some fish around the shore in the northwest side of the lake. I was catching them on Bitter's Salty Slings in both Blueberry and Black. I was tossing them at the shoreline weed edges and letting the wind (current) take it under the edge. Also, pulled a few off of docks. That was good enough for second place as the fishing was real tough. 1st place caught about 9 pounds on day two with a trap and 3rd place did good day 1 along the shore by Tracy's point with different lures. They are about half-way done with the dredging out there and was told they have about a year left. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted May 10, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted May 10, 2008 Roland Martin did a show on Panasoffkee last year and the water was way down. He caught them flippin outside grass lines if I remember correctly. Quote
basslovr Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 18 members fished our tournament on saturday.....17 weighed in fish. Easily over 150 fish caught altogether. 1st and 2nd had the only limits with 8.08 and 8.04 respectively, I took third with 4 fish at 7.14. My biggest was 3.02. All of my keepers came on senko's in various hues of green (no two came on the same color) fished drifting over ell grass beds which are wide spread. Big fish of the tourney went 3.07. Most fish caught on Zara Spooks, senko's and trick worms. Cloud cover all day helped sustain the bite all day I believe. All in all a good day on a lake that few of us had ever fished. We will definitely be back, water conditions allowing. Quote
ljmax Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 Sounds like you had a good day on the lake. Our club fished Panasoffkee on Sunday which was the second day of our 2 day tourny. First day was on Lake Harris and Ill say now I hate fishing LH. We caught 2 fish there with one of them a dink and the other was 8 lbs 14 ounces. The next day was much more enjoyable where we were culling bass by 9:00. We caught all of them on the Devils Horse and they continued hitting topwater all day long. We fished in the northern part of the lake over eel grass. We ended up with 12 lbs 8 ounces for the day and it was enough to win our clubs classic with a total weight of 21 lbs 2 ounces but after a 4 ounce penalty because of a dead fish we ended up at 20 lbs 14 ounces. We had never fished Panasoffkee before but we will be back for sure. Quote
basslovr Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Nice job there lj....sorry I couldn't get back to ya on sat night, but obviously I didn't need to. Great job, you did better than we did. My boater and I were fishing the west side of the lake from Tracy's point to the river. Guess we shoulda ventured a bit further north. Sounds like your club was as satisfied with the lake as ours was. We will definitely be back as long as the water level holds out. Next stop for us is Crooked Lake in Polk County. If anybody can share some insight and reports on this lake it would be greatly appreciated. Tight Lines Everybody!!! Basslovr 8-) Quote
