Soooo, I've been bassering since early last year, with decent luck (SKILL). Shorebound unless I feel like renting a Jon at Mott's or Ni Res'.

None of my buddies are into fishing, so I'm looking for a fishin' buddy. Don't get me wrong, I love fishing by myself, but I want to share the excitement once in a while, my friends going fishing with me is them complaining or just straight sitting down, or taking naps.

Any takers?  ;D

You should try some of that "bassering" at Hunting Run Lake. Shore fishing is available as well as boat renting. Lots of uneducated fish willing to stretch your string.

Where is Hunting Run Lake located? I can't find it. I'm originally from the F'burg area, but live in Herndon now. My folks still live down there and they have a kick *** lake behind their house. Only one other guy fishes it!

The VDGIF site sums it up pretty well. A 100 bass day is a good possibility along with the chance for a 25 to 30 pound best five. Several 8 pound+ bass have been caught there this year.

It is West of Fredericksburg at Chancellorsville Battlefield and 2.2 miles from the Rt. 3 stoplight.

and down the road from some great smallmouth wading.

Does anyone know if they have a cement ramp or is it gravel?  Does it have a boat dock to tie the boat up to while you park the tow vehicle?

The water access is gravel. The lake is being held 8' low because of the lack of residential drain field relocations so the cement ramp is not even in the water. There is no dock, you have to just pull it up against the shore while parking. It is at least 100 yards to the parking lot from the ramp. Take a pair of at least knee high boots to wear when recovering your boat. Be prepared and you will be OK.

Wayne,

Thanks for the information.  I am going to pass on launching my bass boat until the project is complete.  I am buying a canoe next month so I guess I will use it on this lake as well as a few other local lakes that I can't launch my bass boat on.
