Anyone fished the Rez lately?  I was out there a while today and landed 2, my buddy none.  I landed a decent 2 1/2 lber and a smaller 1+.

Anyways, I was hoping someone might help me put a pattern of some sort down or just trade tips.  I always walk out of there with fish, just wish I could double the numbers.

I've got one type of bait that has landed me and  my buddy 90% of our fish there.  Also, does up past bull run produce?  How far up are we talking?

Hoping to make this year better than the last, I'd appreciate any help I could get.

Soccplayer, keep an eye out for Mattstrykul and good luck at the tourny. Let me know if you beat my boy Gerkin.

I was out yesterday morning (SAT) and stayed just till the wind ticked me off enough to go home around 3ish. Landed a total of 8 or 9 most of which were dinks. Did manage one that went just over 4 lbs on a tiki stick wacky rigged on sandy run. Then two in the 1.5 lb range came on spinnerbaits. Was my first day out this year so I was throwing everything and anything. Need time to get back into the swing of things.

Was having some outboard issues (time to rebuild the carb) so I didn't go that far. But you can motor all the way up the occoquan river to Prince William Parkway but Bull Run I'm not sure of. That was my plan yesterday till my motor decided differently. But once I have full power back I'm going up to smack some smallies up there.

When you say upriver I assume you mean Occoquan river and not Bull Run correct?  I've never gone up the Occoquan very far but I have ran up Bull Run as far as possible.  Towards the end there are some good sized rocks that I didnt see on the way up  :o.  Lucky I didnt hit one of those.

when u hit the rocks push on a little further and you'll hit amazing small mouth territory

What a day it was....Pouring rain/lightning/DINKFEST.

We caught 12 fish but only 1 was a keeper...and by keeper I mean BARELY pushing 14''. His tail was right on the line and that was after playing with the fishes tail for a while to get it just right.

We went upriver where I was finding much better fish the last few times I was there but it just died. We caught most of our fish on one 75 yard stretch ;D. What a day, it was fun though and if I could redo it, I would have gone downlake.

Socc, did you fish the tournament today???

By the way does ANYONE know where to find a topographical map of this place?!?! It's nearly impossible. GMCO made one but discontinued it.

I assume you're talking about Bull Run.  I have caught some smallies while wading Bull Run but when I ran up it I was surprised/dissapointed that I only hooked up with largemouth.  Matt, I've been trying to find one too, no luck.  :-/

Are you talking a navigational map or a true Topo as put out by the USGS?

Yea, I fished the tourney. What a horrible day. Past two tourney outings have been like that. We landed one keeper and one at 13 inches. This story sums up my day...with about 30 mins left in the tourney I am fishing a jig on some deep brush piles. I get a bite so strong it nearly took the pole out of my hand. I kid you not. After a 6-8min fight of what I believe to be an 8lbs plus fish. I finally get it next to the boat. To my horrid surprise it's a d**n flathead catfish. I was so mad! If I can take anything positive away from the situation it would be that this thing had to be around 30lbs

I'd love a true topo.  I was gonna look into one with the USGS over spring break but ran out of time

Socc, you should have come up and said hey. I'll see you at the next one hopefully.

Did you go up or down? I know the guys that went down did well. The rez also has some GIANT flatheads. The record for VA is out of there. Sorry you didn't do to well, but neither did we and a whole bunch of others did poorly as well.
