Captain Underpants Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I've seen these X-Calibur Lures advertised and sold in Bass Pro Shops catalogs- they look pretty sweet. 8-) What do you guys think? Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 6, 2007 Super User Posted January 6, 2007 The only thing is that the ammount of types in XCalibur baits is extremely limited, if you are planning on fishing exclusively with minnows, lippless cranks and a couple of topwaters fine, but what about super shallow, shallow, mid and deep divers ? Nope, no mid or deep cranks for me. I wish they had some supershallows though! Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 My buddy bought a couple, the minnow and rattle trap styled ones. They are just like any other hard bait with nothing to set them apart. The minnow is almost exaclty the same as a huskey jerk in my opinion, and the rattling one sinks like a rock but is extra loud. It sinks much faster than any other trap ive seen. Quote
The_Natural Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I have a few of the XR50 rattle baits (traps), and they are good baits. They are very close in construction, sound, and action to the Yozuri Rattlin' Vibe. They have louder, higher pitched rattles than the Lucky Craft LVR's, and behave differently, so really the only comparisons that can be made to the Lucky Craft traps would be the finish and overall quality. The Lucky Craft LVR's have a more intricate construction, and a much more detailed, higher quality painted finish. I think the Lucky Craft finishes are what all the Amercan tackle manufacturers strive for, but have yet to duplicate. Quote

I don't think their are any US manfactories that can match the quality of the Lucky Crafts or any of the Japanese tackle companys. Evergreen and a couple of other makes some great looking baits. The down side is they are expensive. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 What about their topwaters, anything special? The paint job looked beautiful on em, but do they work any better then a rebel pop-r? Or are they not worth the extra money. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted January 7, 2007 Super User Posted January 7, 2007 The XS4 in Ghost is one of the best jerkbaits I have ever used and I highly recommend it. I did not vote because they are great baits but so are LC and Rapala. Depending on the circumstances a $.99 bargin bin lure can outfish all three baits. Allen Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 8, 2007 Super User Posted January 8, 2007 I like the XR50 rattle type lures. I have tried the LC rattle and I like the XR50 better. I have just caught more fish with them. I have tried their jerkbait and the xj4 topwater and have had little success. I still prefer the LC Sammy and LC Pointer. Quote
