I fished an area off Forest Hill Blvd today and found several bedding Peacocks.  My dad caught one off the bed about 2 pounds.  We didn't target them after that one.   I look forward to catching many of them in the coming months as long as this wind and rain stops.

I already have my ultralight rigged with #4 and #6 mono.  What's that do I hear, could it be my spool going ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ?

Bassnblvd,

I went out yesterday to a local canal here in Lauderdale and saw some beds, but I think we can expect some more as the weather warms, the rain doesn't help either anyway, send me a PM sometime and maybe we can target some Peacocks/LM bass around West Palm.  I am up there pretty often running errands for my business.

By the way we ended up catching about 8-10 peacocks, a snook, 4 LM and a Mayan Cichlid.

Take care and tight lines!

Hey Bassn' - Thought of you yesterday!  My kids and I went out to Okeeheelee.  That front lake was quite productive We caught quite a few 2-3 lb bass, and my son hooked an Alligator Gar - eek! But the most exciting part of the morning was baby girl (14..LOL) caught her FIRST big bass!! She has been saltwater fishing before, but is just getting into bass fishing.  She had been throwing a watermelon worm, and had a few bites, but didn't set the hook, so they got away.  My oldest son was so sweet, he spent a lot of time with her, showing her how to set it, and sure enough, the next bite - she pulled in a good 3 lb bass!  She was so excited! I told her she was a natural!  We are going back after we get back from our Spring Break trip~ :D

That's great JF111.  It sounds like you have a great bunch of kids.  Hopefully we will hook up soon.

I did a little bit of peacock fishing this afternoon.  Ended up catching 10 up to 3lbs all on this x-rap.  FYI for all those who have never fished for peacocks...upgrade your hooks to at least 3x saltwater hooks.  I borrowed a new x-rap from a buddy since I left my fishing bag at home and it ended up looking like this after today.

Man, let me tell ya about top quality lures and peacocks.  I was fishing in a tournament last Thursday.  I was throwing a brand new Jackall that Lightinrod from here recommended.  I think the lure was around 18 bucks.

Anyways,  I'm using my new plug when all of a sudden BAM, fish on.  I'm stoked because I can tell from the hit that this was going to be a decent bass, NOT.   It was a Peacock.  Very next cast, BAM, another one.  No big deal but they bent the crap out of my trebles.  I was PISSSSED.

Mekanik,

Your right about those hooks!  I have to pull the pliers out all the time if I am fishing with "WIMPY" fresh water x-raps, so now I use my 4" saltwater x-raps on them.   Have you noticed they like a particular color more than others?

I got 7 small ones the other day on a chartreuse Bomber.

Color doesn't seem to matter with the x-raps, it more in the action of the lure.  But if I had to chose a color for peacocks it would be gold/black.  I have caught more on that color than any other.
