chaosnut Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Do you have a Lure that you feel always brings luck no matter what? I mean a Lure where if it got snagged you would go in after it? If so what is that lure and why do you feel it's lucky? Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 No lucky lure here. Don't believe in luck. Quote
utahbasser Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 i don't have lucky lures, but i have lures i do'nt want to lose! any lure over 5$ is worth swimming for depending on the length and depth. but i would be ticked if i lost a lucky craft, jackall, or ms slammer. i would swim miles for those. they aren't lucky, they just catch fish and cost a lot Quote
detroit1 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Nope. Never seen such a lure. I have some that i would be bummed if i lost. But, a lost lure is just an excuse to buy 2 of them next time... Quote
jjbassjj Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 i agree...dont really have a lucky lure..but theres those baits i just wouldnt want to loose Quote
fathom Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 got an old pop-r that i've threatened to put on the mantle next to the baby's bronzed shoes. was frog colored when i bought it years ago, but now looks like a chicken bone the dogs out in the yard have been gnawing on...i put it up after the last 9#' er nailed it. the way things have been going lately, i may have to put her back into service. don't know that i would call it lucky, but i would call it special. JKay Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I don't, but my 8 yr old son does. He's got a little crankbait that caught a 24" rainbow trout. I almost fell in the water scrambling down the bank to help him get it out of the water. That was a fun day! All I got were dinks, but the look on his face was priceless. He remembers exactly where that lure goes back in his tackle bag! Quote
jaymc Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 There is a lure that was made by the old Smithwick Co. called the Devils Warhorse. This isn't the prop job but just a plain stick bait that stands straight up and down in the water at rest. They haven't made them in years. It was my Dad's favorite lure and he fished with almost nothing else. I have one of his left. Its pretty chewed up. My father was the best fishing pal I ever had or ever will. He never went fishing withoutme from the time I was six. When he passed, he left me his shotgun, a couple of beat up old rods, an old Pflueger Supreme reel and a lifetime passion for hunting and fishing. I can't look at that lure without remembering him and the times we had together. It is a very lucky lure. Quote
Josey Wales Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Brown Craw big-O dont know if its luck, but its like a can of coors light.. it never lets me down. Quote
Guest muddy Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I have an old, beat to death Original Rapala #11 in Silver, Called Ol Reliable < Always on the boat, always catches fish! Quote
JT Bagwell Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I don't have a lucky lure, but I guess I have certain lures I like best. JT Bagwell Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Yeah, I really can't think of any "lucky" lures I have. I have a go-to bait, but its a soft plastic worm, and I wouldn't go swimming for it, wouldn't call it lucky though, would just say its a great bait. That worm is the gycb Kut-tail 5inch. I do have a lure I think I would go swimming for, mattlures bluegill. I haven't caught anything with it yet, or had a chance to fish it. But with the 22 or 23$ i spent for it... I think I just might take a swim.. . Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted March 12, 2008 Super User Posted March 12, 2008 I have one. A 15 year old beat up Poe's 400 crank. That crank never lets me down when I throw it. Fourbizz is painting right now to give it some new life. Quote
GobbleDog Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I have a couple of topwater lures that I caught my first few bass on and hold a special memory, but as for fishing luck... these three objects are ALWAYS in my tacklebox. Left to right: SURF KING - Plastic toy that for some stupid reason I kept on my thumb while surfing monster waves in Hurricane Hugo when I was 16 years old (about 20 years ago). Looking back I was lucky I didn't die considering how young and inexperienced I was, but Surf King was there. Four Leaf Clover Coin - My finance's parents gave it to me a couple years ago as one of my Christmas gifts. On the paper that came with it said something about "fishing luck" among other things, so it immediately went in my tackle box. Laughing Duck - Finance gave it to me a few years ago. Press the button and it quacks. Anytime I take a newbie fishing and they do something stupid, I press the duck. Good times. Quote
Big-O Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Most all of them are lucky if you fish them right, in the right water, at the right time. My favorite style of bait is jig and craw trailer. When I follow my own advice and do the above, it's plenty lucky. Quote
TheBassSlayer Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 When I cant get bit I always go to a Zoom Mag II in Blueberry. I wouldnt call it "lucky" but I would call it reliable. Quote
GitRDoneIke23 Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 My "lucky" one is a Heddon Poppin Image topwater. I even caught a crappie on it!!! My "go to" is probally a Zoom Baby Brush Hog. ;)8-) Quote
MaxDal Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I really don't have a Lucky lure in terms of catchability. But I had a lucky Golden CC spoon attached to my key-chain.... lost it a few weeks ago. I've had that spoon to pass all my exams. Of course I've got tons of CC spoons ... but this one was special ! :-/ Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted March 12, 2008 Super User Posted March 12, 2008 I have more confidence in some lures more than others, but I do have a lucky cap. Quote
The Rooster Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I have several lures I consider lucky. They're all Worden's Original Roostertail. The luckiest one I have is a 1/8 ounce size called "glitter frog". It's all green and glittery, blade and all. I've busted SOOOOO many good sized bass on that thing, and had to straighten it up repeatedly for use again. Only had one all last year and I do believe I'd go in the water after that one even though it was less than $2.50 to buy it. Just could not find any in that size or color, but I finally did get lucky and find a tackle dealer that ordered some for me. I immediately cleaned the peg off and bought all they had when I found them again. Now I've found somemore online (won't say what site cause they only have 7 left) and I think I'm gonna get all of their's too. Just can't get over how that little bait produces. Just seems so small and yet fairly good bass in the 14" range seem to slam it all the time. True, no 9 pounders there, but I'll take all the 2 pounders I can catch with it. Quote
Bass Hammer Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Nothing lucky........they're all just tools to me. Things that are not working I don't have alot of and things that are working I have a ton of. Quote

Willzx225 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 A 20 year old Bomber Speed Shad. I unfortunately had my boat burn completely up a few years ago and lost almost everything I had. I swore that if I could have one bait back it would be that one. I used it to catch my limit in the first BFL I fished as a boater ( 1 of 9 limits caught by the 400 fishermen that day!) and have caught a few 6's on it as well. Its one of those "special" lures that will out perform the seemingly identical bait every time on the water. Quote
