Chai,

Are you heading out Tuesday or Wednesday?  Wednesday I may be heading out, but haven't picked a lake yet.  I hit Burke Lake last week with no luck.  I hear things are picking up, but that Burke is a little over fished on the public side.  We'll just have to prove them wrong.

Andrew is correct. I was not at Royal. A couple of guys said they caught a 7.5 and 9 pounder a couple of days ago out of Royal. I will make it out there one evening with a swim bait and see whats up, the water is real dirty right now.

Sounds like Royal is hitting good if that's good with you.  I'll post as soon as I know when I can go and others can join us if they wish.

Chai,

Mercer is pretty active right now, you may want to try fishing it with crankbaits and t-rig'ed plastics.  I caught three keepers last Saturday, the biggest was 3.75lbs.

It looks like my day out is going to have to be Thursday at Royal since I only have about 3-4 hours.  I plan on being out at Mercer next week and those 7-9 pounders at Royal do sound good if it wasn't a "fish" story.  I'm trying to dodge a morning meeting and get there by 9am, otherwise it will be about 10:30 am.

Mercer? Thursday morning? if its in the AM, it'd be perfect have to go to work at 2 that afternoon. The only problem is, i don't know a road way to mercer i only know the trails that i bike there. oh and i didn't go to burke today, i went to lake braddock, caught 2 bass about half an ounce each! but it seems like they're hitting  pretty late..but yeah, mercer thursday morning would be great.

Take route 123 to Hooes Road or take route 123 to Silverbrook to Hooes Road or take Lorton Road to Silverbrook to Hooes Road. Park in the dirt lot near the d**n. Use crankbaits and rig'ed plastics and should should have some good luck. There is a path all the way around the lake so you can fish from almost any location at the lake with a little bit of effort. Good luck Chai, I hope this helps. I pulled some nice LMBs over 5lbs out of that lake last year and multiple LMBs over 3lbs this year. I might be available to fish Thursday with you at Mercer, I will let you know tomorrow night via a PM.

OK it's Mercer Thursday-hopefully about 9am- but I'll confirm tomorrow night what time I can get out in the morning.

rondef, thanks for the directions and hope to see you out there.

d**n is a cuss word, DAM is a pile of dirt or concrete used to block body of flowing water to create a reservoir... Just FYI

;D  ha!  I've been wondering why so many people here say d**n instead of dam.  Maybe it's just a cool way to sneak in a swear word every now and then.  lol.

I will be out at Mercer tomorrow (10th) at the "DAM" or near by at about 9am.  'I'll be the funny looking guy wearing a fanny pack and hung up in the trees.   ;D

I believe Chai may be there as well and it would be good to meet and fish with all those who can make it.
