regretlove Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I am heading up to our cabin in Sevierville, TN. next month and would love some tips on where to fish in that area. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I would suggest you stop by the Bass Pro Shop at the Sevierville exit(exit 407) on I-40 and speak with the guys in the fishing department. They can help you with info on the area lakes and the trout fishing on the streams in the area. Trout fishing regulations can be confusing. If you are interested in trout fishing check with the fly shop in BPS.......Al Quote
VolFan Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 The Pigeon and Little pigeon rivers around there have some great smallmouth fishing, even around and through town. I used to like to fish around construction areas where it'd been dug out as well as around the bridges. The Pigeon coming out of Douglas lake ( I think) has great striper, wiper and white bass fishing below it, take some small white spinners like a Roostertail and/or some white curlytail grubs and you'll get into some. For trout, the Raven Fork in G-burg and the Little Pigeon further up near Pigeon Forge have some good trout. Just about any stream in the Park has smll bows and further up, brookies. If you can tell me where your cbin is, I might be able to give you a little more specific spots. Quote
regretlove Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 Thanks - I had planned on heading to Douglas Lake. Our cabin is right on Little Pigeon River - up in the mountains on Old Crow Rd. in Sevierville. I am looking forward to some great fishing. Thanks so much for the info - Quote
regretlove Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 Yes - I don't really have any experience trout fishing. My son caught a few last time we were up there, but I was really thinking more along the lines of bass fishing. Have you been to Douglas Lake? Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 30, 2008 Super User Posted March 30, 2008 Douglas should be getting just about right by that time. Lake is coming up nicely. Quote
regretlove Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 Yeah, I was wondering about the level there - thanks. What about night fishing? I've never been night fishing and I'd love to at least one night- do you think it's too early? I heard summer is the best time, but like I said, I have never been. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 30, 2008 Super User Posted March 30, 2008 I've only fished the lake a few times, all at night. AlWolbach is the expert on that lake, but I don't think the night bite really starts up until June when the weather gets hot. Quote
regretlove Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 That's what I thought - thanks for all the great advice Quote
KevO Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I went to gatlinburg in january, and I was told to fish behind the outlet mall, by the guys at BPS. They said it is a good spot for smallies and trout. I never made it cause it rained, but I did go take a look at the spot while my GF shopped. Quote
