I had been catching at least 5 fish every day for about 2 months(sometimes 15+) but starting late Febuary and early March i havent even had a bite. What is going on?? I am pretty sure that the spawn is over but dont people still catch bass afterwards? I have been doing my normal thing, and i went to the store and bought all kinds of jigs, jerkbaits, and all kinds of new lures but havent cought a fish in forever!!! I checked the water and it seems that its getting more clear ( about 3 foot visibility in some lakes), and the water feels real warm, i dont know what to do.

Any tips on what i can do to at least catch one bass??

Thanks!

Well, you should tell us where you are fishing, but in general:

  • The fish moved somewhere else than your normal spots
  • The fish are feeding on something you're not imitating
  • Is there a lot of pressure now?  That could make the fish more timid.

yeah try throwing a search bait(lipless crank or spinnerbait) in new areas to find them, then pick them apart. which lakes in florida btw?

Well i am fishing lakes around my neighborhood, so i can walk all the way around them. And i have been fishing the whole lake, throwing buzz baits, rooster tails, strike king spinners, rattle-traps, yozuri jerkbaits, soft plastics, jigs, and everything that i have.  I have not had one bite in over two weeks and i have no idea why. There have been a few fronts coming through with lots of wind and cold temps the past two days but other than that it has been perfect. Other than the weather the past two days and what i listed above, i have no more info to give you.

Bass change as the season changes.  You've gotta try to change with them.  Easier said than done, of course.

Try moving out into a little deeper water adjacient to shallow areas.  After they spawn, the females leave the beds and move away from shallow water.  Also, after the spawn, there is a period of general inactivity.  That you can't do much about.

I am almost positive that im in the period of inactivity right now then. But actually, i dont think the bass bite ever went down last year. And yeah i have been following the bass to the deeper waters throwing tops waters like Sammys all the way to the football head jigs. And still nothing, i follow from the start of the current to the end.

Thanks for the tips mentioned, and keep them coming!
