Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 15, 2008 Super User Posted February 15, 2008 In West Palm Beach ? From the bank I would try Okeeheelee park. It is located on Forest Hill Blvd just east of the turnpike. No T-Pike exit though. The water is clear and plenty of grass. A weighted craw or worm produce well. Junebug or watermelon seed do good for me there. Also the Turnpike canal which is accessible from the N.W corner of Forest Hill and the park (by the bicycle track) is good for Peacocks. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 15, 2008 Super User Posted February 15, 2008 I just noticed you live in Wellington. Try the back parts of Wellington or in the Aero club. There are tons of canals that hold big fish. They may not look like it but trust me, they hold plenty of and big fish. I'm supposed to go Sunday morning with a friend who's totals so far are over 60 fish in 5 hours. Several 4 and 3 pounders. He's been fishing after work this past week in Wellington tearing them up. On Flukes. Quote
-HAWK- Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 Exactly what areas are you talking about when you say the BACK parts of wellington? You mean the Equestrian areas on the West Side of town? I also plan to fish Sunday maybe ill run into you. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 16, 2008 Super User Posted February 16, 2008 Yes. I don't memorize the street names, just how to get there. The west part and s.w part. I'll look on google earth real quick. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 16, 2008 Super User Posted February 16, 2008 Find Pierson rd. Take that west from Southshore Dr. to Equestrian Club Rd. Also check out Golden Point Lane. I haven't fished those spots in a couple years since I got my boat but I used to do pretty good there. I'll take my boat out if you want. We can hit Osborne or Lake Clarke. Quote

-HAWK- Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 Update from last sunday. Went out to western wellington area canals. Fished canal behind aero club for aprox 3 hours with 4 fish to show all below 1 lb. Fished t rigged weightless senkos and Zoom Flukes. Seems like everywhere i fish i cant find anything of considerable size. Im plagued by dinks. The wind has been the real killer lately. By afternoon the winds are blowing so hard its hard to fish anything weightless. Where are the BIG BASS ???? Quote
regretlove Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Hey I was reading your thread - I live pretty close to Wellington and had never heard of fishing those canals before, although you can catch some nice fish throughout most of the Fl. canals. -I have fished some in Delray (by Lake Ida) - but that was a while ago. I'm heading over to Lake Osborn tomorrow. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 23, 2008 Super User Posted February 23, 2008 JHawk, I went out and on my own and found the place my buddy was telling me about. I caught 5 in 20 minutes up to 2 pounds. the wind was a KILLER to me too. Don't give up on the wellington canals/lakes. Actually, I think the problem is too many developments have gone up and consumed all the good fishing areas by making it private property. Curious though, Have you tried those ponds behind the Wellington mall? I seen some Guats using a cast net in them the other day. Quote
-HAWK- Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 I live in the comunnity behind the Wellington Mall, that large lake behind the mall, Is the one i ussually fish. There is some nice size bass in there. A few over 6lbs have been had. I just cant seem to catch em. Quote

Capt Bob Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 Where can you fish on Clear Lake. It looks like everything is posted no fishing, all along Australian Ave, and no parking. Thanks Quote
Super User geo g Posted January 19, 2022 Super User Posted January 19, 2022 Hawk, What a refreshing post. You seldom see guys sharing spots they fish on a regular basis. We should take note and share more. It grows the sport we love. Thanks again and may a DD bass find your lure! Just 13 years in the making! I just noticed. I hope Hawk is still with us! Quote
