I have gone too crazy as well and have stopped replacing lures after losing certain ones.  When I get low on something I only buy a couple as Id on't have space in one bag to accomodate everything.

The other thing I do is have a side area in my closet to keep my totes of extras. This way day of or night before I go out I can change up what I don't need in my tackle box for something in the tote that I may need.  Just get some extra cases for your lures put them aside and organize your bag each time you go out.  Think of where you are fishing, what the conditions are, what you may want to throw today and always bring some kind of backup lures.  Whatever plan b or plan c might be.  Or consider some backups for windy condtions, different water clarity, etc.

Helped me out quite a bit making a system like this.  For some it's too tedious but for a weekend warrior like me who occassionally finds time after work it's helpful.  I keep a lighter bag during the week so it doesn't hamper me down walking quickly and running and gunning along the shoreline.

LOL, I too have a heavy as lead tackle bag, and I'm a shore fisherman.  I also bring 4-5 rods every time I go out.  One guy asked if I was waiting for a boat to pick me up, or if my boat sank...

I bought around three shoe box ful worth of plastics this winter. Along with 4 new rod and reel setups. Two storage boxes worth of jigs and one 3700 full of new cranks. It's fun though. Passes the time until spring comes. Especially just getting back into the sport last summer. Now I won't "need" as much stuff come next winter. But I'll bet I buy just as much. ::)

As far as your bag goes. My stuff won't fit in my tackle bag now. It use to before the winter but not now. Just take what you think your going to use. That way you won't be overwelmed with choices. Store what your not going to take in shoe boxes or Plano boxes for your hard lures.

Agree with davis, just take what you need or think you will be using most of the day.

I ended up getting a small gander mountain tackle bag to downsize.for that reason. My big bag stays home.

I was in wal-mart with the wife to get baby formula and diapers and soda.  I always cruise sporting goods, just to see what the wally world might have.  This night I happened upon a clearance rack with plastics and spinnerbaits on them.  The strike king spinners baits were a dollar, the had 5 inch grubs and a wave worm tiki drop goinf for .30 a pack. I grab a hand full of spinnerbaits cause I am a blader.  Then I looked at the plastics and grab every package of grubs and all but 5 out of the 25 packages of the tiki drop.  I hardley use grubs and have never fished that tiki drop, but I just had to have them because of the price.  I've got about 30 bags of plastic grubs now and 25 bags of tiki drops now.  YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU MIGHT HIT A JUICY PATTERN.

You're asking a bunch of bass fishermen if they've ever bought too much fishing equipment ?

I'm sorry , I couldn't help myself.

All the time!!!  I usually end up buying a lot more than what I planned on.  My son says I am an addict and that there should be a support group for people like me.

I was thinking about buying some Japanese lures recently, but with the American dollar falling so much the prices have gotten outragious.

I won't be going overboard on those lures anytime soon.

This is how my wife puts it, "You worked for it, paid all the bills, there is food in the house, and the kids are happy.  As long as you aren't spending it on drugs and other women, I don't mind".

I go overboard 60% of the time, every time.

Johnnydel - I shorefish almost every day after work.  You don't need a whole tacklebox for your outings.  What I've done for the last year is take a backpack along with me and two boxes, either Falcon or a standart 3700 box.  The night before, just go through your tackle box and pick out a bunch of the lures you'll probably need and put them into the two boxes, into the backpack.  You can keep some assorted plastics in there too, along with pliers, camera, scale, etc.

I have two empty Falcon boxes that I use specifically for shorefishing, or if I'm going in someone's boat.  Taking a 50lb tacklebag around with you just isn't worth the effort  8-)

Rondef, there is a support group for people like you(and me). It's called BASS RESOURCE!! And yes I always buy too much. My family thinks I'm nuts, "another rod and reel! how many are you up to now". LOL.

I have more gear than I will ever use in a lifetime but I just can't help myself from buying more.  I will catch a bunch of fish on one lure and then go buy 50 of them and then not catch anything with it the next time; then they sit in my basement gathering dust until I see them a year later and say "Oh yeah I forgot about these...."  Then the cycle repeats itself.

There's nothing like ~$200 of Megabass Lures.  That's quite a haul.

What do you think of the Anthrax?

i do a lot of shore fishing, and i'm finding myself in the same position as the thread starter and a few other people in replies. i'm totally at capacity of my browning 360 tackle box. but that doesnt stop me from buying more. i just keep reorganizing and making room. it's getting very heavy though. i blame *** for at least 4lbs. and the 20 terminator t-2 baits i just came home with from bps 10 min ago didnt help.

I've posted this once before, but this looks like the proper place to reiterate it.  After a tackle binge one night at BPS, I was checking my receipt.  The d**n thing was longer than my inseam, literally.  It spilled onto the floor quite a bit as well.  That's a lot of lures.
