Triton9 Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 heys guys, just wondering if anyone has fished anna within the last two weeks. i have a tournament there this sunday and i was wondering what is producing. i do very well at anna in the spring but after our tourny there in the spring we go to the james and gaston more. i have only fished anna this time of year once, but caught fish. i was just wondering if you guys could give me some info of whats producing now, because where i catch em' in the spring i knosw is not going to produce much now. i expect the typical fall pattern to play somewhat of a role in your successes, as i would predict that they are now at least moving into the creeks if not all the way into fall mode. thanks for any info you can give Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Haven't fished it since mid to late summer but I did have good success on rapala floating lures in a minnow color and natural colored senkos (shade/purple/gray, etc). I would say as most of the grass is probably dying off, work the docks on points going into the creeks and maybe any rock lines or walls you see that form ledges along the main lake area. Temps are dropping fast so you may want to concentrate on that fall pattern but be prepared for them maybe to be moving off at that point to their deeper water structure. Good luck and let us know how you do. Quote
VekolBass Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I fished there on the 25th, but really can't tell you much. It was raining, and the wind was blowing around 20mph. I lasted about three fishless hours before giving up. I would recommend fishing either the upper end of the lake or near the warm water outlet near the power plant--but that is based on hearsay, and not personal observation. Quote
Super User Micro Posted November 7, 2007 Super User Posted November 7, 2007 This website updates it reports avery 2 weeks or so. http://www.lakeanna-va.com/GlennBriggs/fishing.html Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 It should be a typical late Fall pattern. Just find the schools of baitfish and throw a crankbait. I'll be there Sunday fishing a tournament also with a group of Jr. BASS kids out of Sturgeon Creek Marina. Quote
phil rush Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 I was there Last Saturday (the 3rd) from 8 to noon. Very windy, blowing from right to left as you head up lake. The concensus of many was that cranks and spinnerbaits would work, but I couldnt get any action. Fished the coves above Christopher Run...nothing! Moved ito Harlow Creek about 10:00 and fished a Strike King bleeding tube and a jig on the docks and caught 3. 2 were dinks, and one was 4-41/2 lbs (felt heavier..pic is below) The jig was a 5/8 oz green, with green pumpkin grub. Surface water temp was 60 and I marked a lot of fish at the mouth of creeks (including Harlow.) When I went to the backs of the creeks I saw no activity at all. This fish was tight to the dock, shady side, in 3 ft of water. With the colder temps this week, I expect the fish to be ready to turn on anytime. Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 Triton9, why bother with this information? Basspro48 will kick your fanny all over the lake. ;D However, with that said, friends fished One Fish Anna last weekend and they found the bass up in the creeks. I was not paying attention to the details as to which creeks so I can't help you there nor to what they were throwing, but knowing them it was spinnerbaits, crankbaits, Rat-L-Traps and suspended Rapalas. I know some probably threw some wacky rigged Senkos, too. Let us know how you did and how far behind Basspro48 you ended up in the tourney. Quote
rondef Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Nice catch Phil. I have only fished Lake Anna a couple of times and did not catch many fish. I am hoping for better luck next year. Quote

phil rush Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 There is a recent post on BFHP by an angler that caught 30+ bass the weekend of the 3rd/4th. Spinnerbaits on windblown ponts. Quote
Triton9 Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 hey sam, thanks for that info, but anna aint BP48's territory. i'd like to see him try to take me down there, and this tournament is an invitational for the elite anglers of the local trails, and the anglers have been picked by Woods & Waters and the invites are only for the elites, and BP48 was not on the roster. 8-) ;D and i guess he forgot to mention his defeat on his "home water" the pamunkey on tuesday, three to zip, and oh yeah, it was bp48 who had the big ZERO, hehe ;D(i'm just playin ya BP48) Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 9, 2007 Super User Posted November 9, 2007 Triton9, Congats on making the field on One Fish Anna. Quite an accomplishment. Are your grades as good as your fishing???? BP48 probably did not make the field as he has too many other things on his agenda than fishing this weekend. Otherwise, I can't think of anything that would have kept him from being invited to the tournament (other than not qualifying). As for the Pamunkey, did you post your information on this site? We would like to know where you went, your presentations and how you did. The Pamunkey was wild with water this past weekend due to the hurricane in the Atlantic. Williams dock was totally under water and you could not tell if the tide was rising or falling. The river should be back to normal buy this weekend. So let us know about the Pamunkey and One Fish Anna tournament. Good luck in the tourney. Quote
basspro48 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I bet I would make the field if I could afford those dang entry fees But seriously, how'd yall do? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted November 12, 2007 Super User Posted November 12, 2007 The catching was pretty decent yesterday, but we were one bass short of the 10 bass limit for each team of three anglers. We had several bass break off and pull off but caught fish just about everywhere we tried. The event started late due to fog and ended at 1:30. I fished with the same two kids that I did last year when we won, and we won again this year. I was great seeing all those kids participating with the freezing temps early in the morning. Quote
