Has anyone on this forum fished Shelby Farms Park?  If so what have you caught?  I plans on going there in the spring when I go visit my daughter.  It looks like there are quite a few ponds and a lake to fish.  Any help you could provide would be appreciated.

I have fished a couple of ponds there and have never had a bite or seen a fish of any kind.

Where do you recommend near Memphis, TN?  I will be going there in the spring and want to start researching so I can catch some LMBs.

I have a couple of ponds to show you and then you can come back and fish them whenever you like on your own.

Roadwarrior,

Thanks I would really like that.  I am thinkiing that I will be in Memphis around the March April time frame to visit with my daughter.  She works at St Jude Childrens Research Hospital in one of the research labs (infectious diseases) as a research technician.  I will PM you when the time gets close.  Once again thanks for the invite.

Shelby Farms....sucks...no wait, SUCKS.  They stock the lakes with anything and everything and are just horribly managed.  In my experience the lakes only produce about a half million 4 inch crappie per trip.  Theres a few little lakes around town if your just a bank fisherman.  One that I used to fish alot before I got a boat is at the corner of Whitten and Stage (hwy 64) before they turned it into a park.

As long as you release MY pet fish, you can fish MY not so private pond!

Neshoba Park, Germantown, just east of the intersection of Germantown Pkwy & Wolf River (behind the Chick-fil-A).

I don't know what you have in mind, but you might try catch-em lake on the Agricenter Farm off Walnut Grove. It is a pay lake (pond by size), but they keep it stocked with mature fish. I have not been there myself, but I have seen pictures and was around when they built it a few years ago. Good luck.

Bait too big?

I've had some luck fishing a Double-Wide Beaver on a 1/2 oz Micro Munch Tackle jig. We're talkin' size! I generally fish big baits.

I agree with Roadwarrior. I have been fishing Beaver Lake for 2 months.

Not one bite , NOTHING. The turtles are out of control stealing live bait. It's a total waste of time. I have since stopped going there. I am looking for a good lake or river I can fish safely.  Any suggestions would be extremely helpful.

Thanks in advance.
