fishincop640 Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 How did the tourney go at Sayer's? Im sure the water temp was back down in the 40s. Quote
central.PA.bass Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 No clue why but last week when i was at Sayers it was 3 ft over summer pool.. for some reason over the last week they dropped the water levels by at least 15ft and it was down to winter pool again.. that killed the bite... 8 guys showed up for the tourney and no one even got a nibble!! Needless to say we all finished first and last and received our money back haha! Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted March 27, 2011 Author Super User Posted March 27, 2011 It is strange that they dropped Sayers that low at this time of year.Sorry you guys didn't get any fish. What was the water temp? (if you don't mind me asking).Fishincop was going to Raystown this afternoon maybe he made out better. Hey Central PA. Bass do you know if Black Moshannon is ice free yet? Quote
central.PA.bass Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 started out at 38.. got up to 41-42 around 1:30 when I was leaving... Last weekend temps were ~43.. And not sure.. I haven't been around there for 2 weeks... I am guessing it is though.. I will text a friend and ask.. Quote

I thought it was odd that you guys were having a tourney with the levels that low, but I thought maybe they'd close the spillway and let it fill up... Guess they didn't! I'm wondering about Black Mo myself... I might make that the first lake I hit this season. Quote

Even if you throwdown with some big old Muskie lures? That's a bummer Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted March 28, 2011 Author Super User Posted March 28, 2011 Hi Nate,ya they had it posted at the one launch.I don't usually get over their to fish till end of April so I'm not 100%sure.I will try to find out.The sign didn't have a breakdown of different fish it just said no fishing till 1st day of trout. Quote
central.PA.bass Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I am guessing that the message is for trout only.. You wouldnt think they could shut the whole lake down do you? Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted March 28, 2011 Author Super User Posted March 28, 2011 Hey guys I just talked to a former Warden that I know and he said that Canoe Creek is closed to all fishing till trout opener. He also stated that Bald Eagle Creek is the same. You couldn't fish for suckers or something like that either. fishincop640 Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Due to having to work late Sunday afternoon we didn't make it down to Raystown. I did get my new trolling motor though. Got a 2010 Minn Kota Maxxum 80lb thrust trolling motor for $500. Guy I got it from just got out of fishing the Stren Series Tournaments and this was his back up TM.....Not a single scratch on the thing!! Hoping to make it down to Raystown sometime this week. Will post report! Quote

fkiller31 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 New here and glad I joined up. Sayers drives me nuts. I crappie fish it with the family just for the quantity and fun to catch and release. In the summer nights we bowfish the lake at with lights and see some huge bass and some real nice muskies. However, that lake kicks my butt every time I fish for bass. Beautiful lake with such potential and so frustrating. Any pointers? :'( Quote
NateFollmer Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Never knew there were Muskies in Sayers.... I may have to try harder for them next time That lake is tough sometimes, there's really no way around it Just throw everything you got until you find what works. I've had techniques work there that shouldn't for that time of year, so just stick with it. Quote
central.PA.bass Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I like sayers but it is a tough lake to fish.. I like fishing weeds in the summertime along with the man made structure.. Buddy of mine caught a huge musky last summer on a 1 dollar walmart spinnerbait.. Quote
