I was talking to a couple of guys I work with today about area lakes. One said that Raystown was closed last week due to high water. He stated that the water at Aitch launch was up to the bathrooms in the upper end of the parking lot.Anther co-worker said he was up at Glendale yesterday afternoon, and didn't see any open water. I haven't made it over to Canoe Creek lately so I can't comment on it. Anyone having any other updates feel free to add them.

Are the few launch points at Raystown still closed due to the vandalism? I think it was Aitch, Shy Beaver and James Creek that got hit and they said in the paper that they aren't opening them until they find the people who did it?

Anyway that's not the point of this thread :D I checked out Walker and Faylor the other day... Looks like the ice is gone, but I'm sure they are blown out and muddy right now. Haven't had a chance to check Colyer, but it was still solid last I saw.

Aitch, James Creek and shy beaver will be open again soon.  They did find the person that did it.  I will give a better update as I am heading there tomorrow morning with a buddy to check out the lake.  Gauges are showing it is back to normal pool.

Local ponds are ice free down here in South Central.

Haven't checked any of the local electric only lakes, but I'm sure they are ice free as well.

Someone hit me up with a date to fish Canoe Creek.  Im sure my parents would like to see me and I always wanted to throw the big trout lures up there for bass and musky.

You won't see me up there until at least two weeks after the trout opener.

I've seen that lake get turned into a froth by all the Powerbait dunkers.   ;D

You ought to see some of the muskies in that place too. 36"+, no problem.

Come on SPEED! a 36" musky isn't even legal size in PA!  :D  Wait til they get in the mid 40 inch range!  ;D  They're the fun ones! And yes, I know, ya want to come down and fish with me for them. Give me some time to find them again. With the high waters we got so far, I have to figure out how it's affected the spots I've fished in the past or whether I need to find some new places.

Haven't got my PA license yet but will be getting it at some point here! What's the scoop on Sayers? Have seen anyone mention it yet.

Sean, 36+ is a HUGE musky for a lake that when I was growing up the PA DCNR and PFBC insisted that there were NONE in the lake.  You should see the size of the walleyes in that place where there are NONE.  ;D

I was night fishing there once, drowning worms for catfish with one of my buddies from back home.  Guy throwing a jitterbug about 30 yds away gets freakin' BLOWN UP and lands one over 40". The park ranger had a tough time explaining that one away.   ;D

Nice. Yeah, I would've loved to hear the ranger stumble through that conversation! LOL! You know my opinion of lake muskies though.  ;)

Central PA. Bass,Canoe Creek is approx. 7-10 miles from 99 exit. Not quite sure on going that way.I usually go to Water Street and go up 22.I do know there are 2 ways to get to the lake once you get on Route 22.The 1st one takes you back a winding road, more scenic but slower.I would stay on Route 22 till you see the big State Park sign(can't miss it).

I come down 22 from Dville, through Hollidaysburg and Geeseytown.

Do you use the launch by the dam or the back side by the stump field?

I might have to bring my bow too.  There are some big ol' carp in that place.   :D

I always use the launch by the dam.The other one gets weedy real quick and makes it tough to get in and out.

I stopped by shy beaver this weekend, water was almost 50 way back in the towards the creek , but was only about 44 off the end of the dock. Water was pretty dirty. Guys I talked to said the water was about the same on the main lake too.

A guy caught a 50 inch muskie out of Canoe creek last year. He was reeling in a trout and bam! It was in the paper, I think it was on the first day!

Hmmm, reeling in a trout and a bigger fish came up and ate it.

That doesnt sound like anything I might like to try.  Swimbaits don't work in PA. Nope.   :D   ;D
