Hot Hole has bass in it. Nothing worth bragging about. But the pressure from the shore pushes them to the other side of the pond so you need a boat to really get the best out of it. Turtle pond is where I caught my first 4 pounder. But like it was said earlier the pressure there is high. Still good fishing but its hit or miss for me. Turee is great too. I spend most of my time there because the fishing is decent. I have luck both by boat and from shore. My friend caught a 3 pound large mouth off the shore there. I also like Chestnut pond in Chichester. Never really see anyone else there when I go. Its loaded with Bass between 1.5 - 3 pound average but its not a shore fishing pond by any means. I have lost a few lures there too. There is a nice section on the other side where it looks like they may have dropped tree branches into the water to create a nicer habitat for the bass. You can see tons of them swimming around that. Check it out.

Hi guys, as you can see i'm new to the forum. Wanted to know if anyone had any advice on good Bass fishing spots in or around the Derry,NH area. I have tried Massabesic with no results, Ballard pond on 102 with a few small LM. I've tried the small streams coming out of Island pond with a few good size but they were few and far between.

Other than those places I haven't tried many others in the area seeing i'm new to it. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Where is Ballard pond? I am in Windham, I fish Cobbetts, Canobie, BIP, Beaver lake, Kingston lake, and some others towards Nashua. If you have a boat, Kingston lake would be worth the time, some nice fish in there.

Chestnut pond in Chichester,,, added to my list of places i didnt know about. possibly may try it this weekend or next wed.

i will also try turee one of these times.

I fish turtle a bunch and it was very good to me last year. My 12 yr old has had great luck there also. The last big fish i caught was off the shore into the lilly pads to the left of the boat ramp.

Late october last year 4 lb 2 oz. She was a big girl and suprised me to be so big right there.

I have recently returned to fishing in the past 2 years. as a close to 50 yr old so many of the past years have just been taken away by other life things.

Got out today and spent most of the morning at Naticook. Only got a few dinks and after about my 25th pickerel decided to head somewhere else for the afternoon. Headed over to Mill pond near the Conway arena. Caught a bunch of crappie and some smaller lmb.

After a hour or so I sent a soft crayfish under a log along the shoreline and hooked into my personal best! 5lbs... I had an audience of people walking and jogging LOL

I did see a lot of huge lmb cruising and I didn't realize there were such large ones in there. I had one come right up beside me in my kayak and it scrared the crap out of me!!

Overall great day! Except the sunburn, gonna need some aloe.

Hi guys. I've been reading the forum for a while but this is my first post. We went out to bow lake yesterday morning. water was like a mirror on the main lake. Started trout fishing cause we got there at 6:45. That made the day right there. 12 rainbows is a good day in my book. When we switched to bass the wind picked up a lot. Got one smallie but saw a ton of them. A couple on beds and a bunch just cruising. Saw one that had to be around 4 or 5 pounds sitting on a bed. Will deff be going back up and trying to catch some of those beautiful small mouth. any tips for smallie fishing in such clear water thats kinda new to me. They seemed to spook pretty easy when we were going over the top of them. Thanks for any advise. Have a good weekend and keep um' coming in the boat.

Where is Ballard pond?

Ballards is on 102 (Island Pond Rd) going towards Hampstead. It is the pond at the old saw mill, which is now a landmark.

Oh, that pond on the left. I assume you have to fish it from shore? Nice bass in there? Would that be a good place to take my son from shore?

Had a great afternoon yesterday. I stopped counting at 25 fish. Lots of smallmouth, a few largemouth and one pike right around 8 pounds. Several bass over 4. About half the smallmouth were on beds, which is like shooting fish in a barrel but still tons of fun. I caught one largemouth off a bed and the rest were prespawn still.

The smallmouth were definitely fresh on the beds because none of them had hook marks so they're not being pounded yet.

Can't wait to get back out there today

You can dock a small boat/canoe in it to get out to the larger upper part but you would need to carry it over a small dam in the back. I've heard the upper part has bigger and more bass than the lower part (near 102).

It is definitely a good place to take kids (I take my daughter there) because it has a ton of sunfish and perch to catch. I've caught lots of pickeral there and a few bass. The bass were small, between 1/2 and 1lb. It is a very good place to fish from shore seeing it is small. It has a trail on both sides you can walk, but the one on the right side is better because you can walk to the upper part.

You can also get out back of the upper part if you take Warner Hill Rd and park at the old rail road bed and walk for about 1/4 mile.

Fished Pawtuckaway Lake this past weekend as I was camping there. Excellent campground by the way, if you are looking for a place to camp. Our campsite was right on the water, so I didn't have to pull my boat out, which was nice. As far as the fishing, caught about 25 LMB over 2 days. Mostly smaller fish, one nice fat 3lb'r, that was about it. Saw a nice LMB cruising the shallows, probably 6+ lbs. Was a very nice fish. Couldn't get it to hit anything. I read that there was SMB in that lake, but I didn't catch a one.

Lost mt biggest largemouth ever tonight about 8:30. Fishing at the bridge in the Pennichuck in Nashua on Tinker road with a pretty good size spinner i just bought. I managed to get it all the way in. I figured it was another big pickerel, it didnt jump at all it just pulled, till i got it in close enough to net it and reach for the net i saw it was a huge bass. I decided to instantly reached down to grab it by the mouth and as i pulled it up 1/2 out of the water abiut 6 inches away from it i broke the line. It would have easily been by far my biggest fish ever. It was at least as big as the one my buddy got last year on the opposite side of the Pennichuck which was huge.

I drive by there everyday and I've never fished it. I figured it was over fished with the amount of people I see there. Maybe I'll try it some day on the way home. Sorry to hear about your fish you lost. You'll get em again!

I think most people who fish at the bridge right on tinker road use worms, kids with real worms and bobbers and adults with rubber stuff. I never catch anything on rubber stuff there. My thinking is the fish are seeing way too much of them and are smart enough to leave them alone. I fish there with spinners , buzz baits and flat fish as well as top water popr and jitterbugs after the sun goes down. I live less than 2 minutes down the road so i get there there very frequently. When the lilly pads fill everything in i pull out a small white scum frog and just twich it extremely and boringly slow right thru the pads. As long as you dont mind pickerel too much youll find bass. probably 3 or 4 pickerel to 1 bass. Someone with more experience fishing than me will get better results i am sure. Also if driving towards Merrimack from Nashua on Tinker road take a right down the dead end there are spots on both sides of the road. I go there when there are people at the bridge. I mostly fish the right side of the bridge if you are heading towards Merrimack.

I'll have to remember that. Thanks for the help! I figured the fish have smartened up to some of the baits being thrown. I'll try it at some point. Really wish I could throw my tin boat in there!

Hey Nashua, do you know if it's ok to toss a kayak in at that spot? I have fished there many times with no luck but would love to head up and down that stretch.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to post here that I am selling my 2002 Tracker custom bass boat. I listed it in the flea market- it's over in Epsom right now if anyone wants to take a look- just pm me and I'll give you my phone number to set up a time. Asking 4700. Sad to see it go but we are looking to maybe build a house and I could use the money. Can't get good photos to post so email me at charlesgoodwinjr@hotmail.com if you want some good pics of the boat.

Spent Saturday afternoon at Spofford after troubleshooting some trolling motor problems in the morning. Redid some wiring inside the pedal and I was good to go. Caught two largemouth over 5 on the spinnerbait along with a pike that was pushing 10 pounds and at least a dozen more bass, a few of which were over 4. Just an awesome day. No pictures due to the rain, unfortunately.

Sunday afternoon I took the girlfriend out for a few hours because she was dead set on catching a bass. The bedding smallmouth were fun for her; quick action. I fished some stuff that I don't normally fish and was pleasantly surprised to find fish in those areas. I meant to do some pike fishing, but it seemed like I just kept catching bass after bass and I couldn't pull myself away from the bass fishing. Good problem I guess.

The bass are in various stages of prespawn and spawn and some of the smallmouth have actually moved off the beds already.

Hit up Naticook yesterday in the little jon boat (Sunday with no Sun) for about 1 1/2 hours 5 pickerel 1 small bass. Made it to Mill pond (2 1/2 hours) this morning also in the jon boat and had a big zero. I know there are fish there but i couldnt find em.

What areas of Mill pond have been productive for you guys?

Anyone fished down the canal at Mill pond?

water temp was at 62

The milfoil / weeds are really growing well lots of them just below the surface already

Anyone had any luck at Stump pond in Amherst.

Any other ponds i should be trying in the Nashua area.

Lately i get about a 3 hour total window including travel time. Typically 5 am to 8 am

Behind fidelity in Merrimack? and Swan pond in Merrimack ?

Just a heads up, if you fish the fidelity Pond in Merrimack, security will kick you off. Even if you are an employee there you can only fish it on Sundays.

Also that pond has the smallest bass I have ever seen. I mean there are hundreds of them, but they are all tiny little minnows.

Hit a few smaller locations on Saturday. Rocky Pond in Brookline was first, quite a few smaller 1-2lbr's, could see a lot of nice fish cruising the shallows, no beds, pre-spawn mode, just couldn't get them to hit anything. My bro-in-law caught a nice 2lb Smallie, which I didn't even know were in there. Never caught one there before. Then we went to Otter Lake (Greenville State Park), I had fished there before and all of the fish seem to be 1-2lbs, occasionally a 3lb'r. Weird. But still fun to catch about 40 fish between the two of us. Sunday we woke up at dawn and drove to Spofford Lake. I see fmoore talking about it all the time and it's only about a 40min drive for me, so I figured I'd check it out. I'm glad I did! We fished the shore to 5ish feet of water and landed a sh#t ton of Rock Bass and smaller 1-2lb Buckets/Smallies. Fun, but get's old after awhile. About an hour in we could see some beds and fish on them, so we changed tactics and cruised around until we saw a bed. Like shooting fish in a barrel, but a ton of fun. Ended up catching my new PB Smallie at 5.74lbs, as well as a few 4lb Buckets. I was very happy. I'll have a picture up shortly of the Smallie.

I had extra time last night sitting around doing nothing and looked around on this site. wow Those are some nice fish you guys have been catching and posting lately

I need lessons, lots of them !!! and i am doing some research and saving some $ to put a fish finder onto my 12 ft jon boat.I think i want one with side sonar. make sense?

I picked up a used (almost for free) one that tells me depth and temp. From reading they have come a long way since this thing was made. And i am also finding out that i need to buy a pair of polarized glasses.
