Nashua Nev Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 Water temp was 53 - 56 depending on where we were on Turtle pond. Quote
NHfroggin Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Nice fish Fmoore and NHbassin! I went out today to massabesic lake and it was WINDY. There were constant 1 foot waves and when the wind really kicked up they were closer to 2 feet! The boat handled it well but it was a very wet ride. I only caught a couple pickeral. Water temps were 48-49 on the main lake but got up to 53 in some coves. -matt- Quote
jaystraw Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 You're brave for going out there today Matt! fmoore and I got out Tuesday on Spofford. He caught a nice LMB and a smaller pike. The bite was really tough. We saw a decent amount of fish suspended, and some followers, but they were exceptionally spooky overall with the bright sun and lack of wind. Quote
Kevin McG Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Hi Guys! Took the kayak out for the first time yesterday, went over to Flint's pond in Hollis.6-7LMB all about 1 1/2lbs. Everything I caught was along the right side along the houses shoreline, lots of pickerel Quote
jaystraw Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Got out on friday and it wsa prespawn madness. All the smallies had moved out of their winter holding areas and were hanging around boulders in 5-10 FOW on sharp dropoffs and rocky flats. All the LMB's were tight against the shore or on wood/dock cover. Several fish that I caught had at least three other fish with them. Everything on a green craw bitsy bug. Maybe 30 fish overall. Here is a pic of the biggest..4LB LMB. Quote
NHBassMaster2 Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Anyone ever fished Naticook Lake in Merrimack? I know it's really shallow from the Bathymetric map, figured it might be warmer than other locations. Have a buddy who lives on the lake and wants to go out fishing. Any tips? Quote
jaystraw Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I'd be using a soft plastic or jig this time of year in shallow water. Color depending on the water clarity. Otherwise, I've never fished it. good luck! Quote
Nashua Nev Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Anyone ever fished Naticook Lake in Merrimack? I know it's really shallow from the Bathymetric map, figured it might be warmer than other locations. Have a buddy who lives on the lake and wants to go out fishing. Any tips? I have not fished it this year. but fished it several times (maybe 7 times)in the past 2 years. Many bass at the 1 1/2 - 2 lb range and lots of pickerel Never anything bigger than 2 1/4 for me. Always catch fish everytime i go there. I am still getting familiar to fishing with rubber worms and lizards and missing more than i catch. I am comfortable fishing topwater and most of the fish i catch come from the top. This year so far as been the same except i have been hitting a lot of pickerel for the last 3 weeks or so but no bass. The only bass i have this year have been on small green lizards and those have only been small fish. The pickerel have had some good size. My 12 yr old loves to catch those pickerel. He has 2 over 21 inch so far this year Quote
Nashua Nev Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 I tried the canal in nashua this morning behind the millyard and had no luck. I am thinking i might try naticook in the morning (1st time this year there) or behind the diner in amherst on route 101 in the canoe, anyone ever been there in amherst? Quote
fmoore Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Been super busy the past week or so and haven't been on. The big fish are definitely feeding real good now. Watched someone catch an almost 7 1/2 largemouth last night. Caught my new PB 5 pound 5 oz smallie today. Huge gut on her. 4.4 largemouth from a week or so ago New PB smallie at 5 pounds 5 oz It's on now, for sure. 1 Quote

clr9933 Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Good job fmoore! That smallie looks amazing, so fat! What did you get it on? Quote
nhbassin Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 WOW fmoore!!! Thats one of the nicest looking smallies I've ever seen in NH. I got out this evening for a little and even though it was slow, I got a 3 pound 12 ounce largemouth on a black spinner bait with a single Colorado blade. Quote
fmoore Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Thanks guys. I caught her on a shaky head rigged up with a soft plastic crayfish. Quote
CLRinSNH Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Nice SMB fmoore. BIP is warming up, 59F by the docks. Smallies are moving in with beat up tails and the LM are cruising the docks when the sun is shining. Caught this nice 4lb 4oz LM on a Bomber Long A under the neighbor's dock. Quote
NHBassMaster2 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Nice fish all! The Bass do seem to be getting more active, though I would still say that it's slow fishing. Been fishing a private lake in Boscawen, so I've been kind of spoiled lately in the bass department. Had a pretty interesting Mothers Day fishing outing with my Brother in law. We put in at dawn at Webster Lake in Franklin. The Bass fishing was slow, only caught a few dink Smallies and Buckets. My bro in law was throwing a 3" Rainbow Trout patterned Rapala, fishing a point and he caught a nice 10" stocked Rainbow! Up close in maybe 2-3" of water, in between rocks! We couldn't believe it. We continued to Bass fish, fishing all of the normal Spring locations and nothing. All small fish and few and far between. We could only fish until about 11am, due to a Family get together. So we said screw it and tagged out on Brown and Rainbow trout. If the lake throws you Trout, go Trout fishing! They were tasty! Quote
nhbassin Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Nice largemouth CLRinSNH, that thing is nice. I got out to a pond in Concord today with clr9933 and I caught 7 largemouth, a big crappie, and about 10 pickerel all on a black spinner bait. The largest was only 2 pounds, but there was a lot of activity in the shallows which was promising. Still waiting to hook into my first BIG bass of the season! Quote
Nashua Nev Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 Anyone fished Hoit rd marsh in concord? I burned an hour on the shore yesterday but had zero luck. I threw lizards, worms ,spinners and some topwater. Boringly slow. How about Bass at Hot Hole pond in Concord. Quote

Im trying Hot Hole this week and I will let you know how it was. Quote
NHBassMaster2 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Hoit Road Marsh is a dump, or atleast it used to be. Full of Pickeral and Sunfish. I've caught bass there before, but they were dinks. A LOT of people fish that place from shore, so it get's quite a bit of pressure. As far as Hothole Pond, I am quite certain that it's Trout only. I know that you can slam Trout in there, but I do not believe there is any good bass fishing there. I think when you look at the Bathymetric map it says "Trout Waters". Hope it helps. Could save you a trip. If your in that area, I would suggest Turtle Pond. It's got a good launch, parking lot, etc. Bass fishing is pertty good in there. Again, that place gets A LOT of pressure as well. Hope it helps! Quote
jaystraw Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I think Turee Pond in Bow is pretty decent. Wagn caught a monster there. I'm on vacation for the next 10 days. All of which I plan to spend on the water, rain or shine. Quote
PLombard68 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Hi guys, as you can see i'm new to the forum. Wanted to know if anyone had any advice on good Bass fishing spots in or around the Derry,NH area. I have tried Massabesic with no results, Ballard pond on 102 with a few small LM. I've tried the small streams coming out of Island pond with a few good size but they were few and far between. Other than those places I haven't tried many others in the area seeing i'm new to it. Any advice would be much appreciated. Quote
