mhtranger Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Bobh, how was the water? What is that lake like for shore line? When I fished Mendums it was low and shore was rocky. We had no luck until I switched to a deep diving craw and bounced it off the rock on shore and then the hit started. Quote
bobh64 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Yes lake was about a foot and a half low, able to see the hazards, the water temps was about 48 there but with the wind blowing I didn't get much time in today. The lake has a rocky shore and one area that has a cliff like structure off the shore line, I was trying to get anything from shore to the 12 ft mark you can see them stacked up on the fish finder. but crank baits, jigs and tubes didn't cut it in the 30 mph wind. bobh64 Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Fishing today with my dad on Swains hope I have better luck this time. Quote
bobh64 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Was a good day of fishing Sat on Swains got many hits on a black w/blue senko close to shore, another fisherman was hitting them with spinner baits Quote
NHBassMaster2 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Bobh64, glad to hear it! This weather has been sucking lately, but it looks like this week that'll change. The pre spawn bite should be back this week! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 1, 2012 Super User Posted April 1, 2012 Exactly right, NHBassmaster. Today fished Turtle for a little bit, and didn't catch crap, but maybe a cold. I think we need another warm up to kick 'em into full on pre spawn, and then it's just on everywhere. Quote
NHBassMaster2 Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Get your gear ready! This week is promising warming temps and sunny skies! The prespawn bite will be back! Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted April 2, 2012 Super User Posted April 2, 2012 I went to Cobbetts yesterday for 2 hours. Cold air, cold water, managed 2 bass around 2 lbs each. I had gone 2 Sundays ago and had done better, a fat LM and a fatter SM. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 2, 2012 Super User Posted April 2, 2012 Cobbetts was still cold, huh? What are we talkin'? 46ish? What did you catch the 2 on, Deak? Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted April 2, 2012 Super User Posted April 2, 2012 Shane, yesterday I hit with a scrounger rigged with a rooster(courtesy of you), and a white willow leaf tandem spinner, 3/8 oz, bass pro brand. depending on where you were, it was 46-49, but with the cold air, my eyelets froze up in the early going. Super User deaknh03 Posted April 3, 2012 Super User Posted April 3, 2012 Shane, you tell me when your ready. Easter weekend is out, but after that we can get together. You wanna travel, or I can come that way, perhaps to the lake holding that 9lbers big sister. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 3, 2012 Super User Posted April 3, 2012 Either way, Deak. Two weeks, and we should hit it. There's bigger fish in Cobbets. Quote

Super User deaknh03 Posted April 3, 2012 Super User Posted April 3, 2012 2 weeks it is, we should do a weekday, you have wednesdays off? Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 3, 2012 Super User Posted April 3, 2012 You wanna know where that 9 came from? Turtle. I was just thinking about protecting the spawn, but figured I would share. That day, I just figured out how the bigger fish were eating, and was in the right place at the right time, with the right offering. The place is so over fished, it's nuts, and I would have died of laughter if someone ever told me there was a 9 living in there. I would just expect anyone here who fishes there, to respect what we have there, and not stress out the big fish by keeping them out of water. That fish recuuped in my live well for 20 minutes with "Please release me" additive before I took pics, and then released into the exact spot, so she could do what she was doin'. That fish, and the 7-2 I caught the same day, need to spawn. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 3, 2012 Super User Posted April 3, 2012 Oh, yeah. Wednesdays off, bro. Quote
