Well fellow MA people, the time has come. The weather is getting warmer, the ice on ponds and lakes slowly creeps away, and bass fishing is almost upon us.

I made a post a few threads down alluding to the idea of having a get together to celebrate the ice and cold weather getting the hell out of our state.

I got a few PM's with interest so decided to pull the trigger and start to coordinate it.

The idea for this is to have just a get together of anyone who can make it from BR (as well as bringing your buddies who may fish but dont post here, family, etc) to a local pond/lake to grab some fish, drink some brews, share stories etc. A friendly outing where we can try and grab our new PB's of '11.

The pond that I had in mind was Monponsett. It is divided into 2 main big sections. East and West, with boat ramps on either side, both with great fishing.

Here is a map and description(.PDF file) : http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/habitat/maps/ponds/pdf/dfwmonpo.pdf

So, now here comes the question of when. I am completely open for whenever, i was thinking the week before the BR Road trip, or the week after. But open to suggestions.

Also, I do not want to discourage non-boaters who are interested. I have 1 seat on my boat, and perhaps others who have boats may have open seats as well, and this thread we can discuss it. Also, I have a 12 foot aluminum Jon boat that a few guys can fit in that it not my primary boat but can hold 3 guys if they want to use it.

Having said all that, use this thread to discuss/suggest/plan if anyone is interested.

If it turns out to be me and Rhino out there and him showing me up in his Nitro doing doughnuts around me, that's fine by me, but would like to see if anyone in the MA area would like to go.

I'll have to see what's going on that weekend. It is a hour and half ride for me.

Everything is up for suggestion, maybe we can find something more in the mid range of north-east MA and south-east MA?

I'll have at least one seat, maybe two, if my buddy who is a member here doesn't go.  At the moment, it looks like you are considering April 9th or April 30th which are Saturdays, or the Sunday after those days.

Sundays are tough for me since my wife and I help her 92 year old mother, doing chores at her home.

Given enough lead time, I should be able to work out something with my wife, like doing that on Saturday, or the Monday after.

I was definitely considering Saturday, seems like Sundays for most people are a pain to get off (me including)

I would really love to fish this, but Saturdays are totally out for me. My son will be starting baseball in the morning, and I work from 3pm-11pm on Saturdays.

If this eventually gets moved to a Sunday, then please post here. I would really like to fish this.

Keep a seat on a boat open for me if you can. I'll donate the boat owner with gas & refreshments. Again, if this turns into a Sunday event.

Don't know if the boat will be ready but I wouldn't mind meeting some people. It seems I fished that pond 20 years ago and caught mostly white perch. Things change though. I wouldn't mind being kept in the loop. Thanks

Don't worry guys haven't forgot about this. After talking with some people it looks like the date is going to be April 10th. At Monponsett pond. I plan on getting there very early and making a day out of it.

ALSO: We are going to do this again at the same pond/ long pond the weekend AFTER the road trip (May 1st) for people who couldn't make it. If all goes well we can make it a semi monthly thing.

A lot of people are saying to fish the west side but i think I am going to check the wind when I get there to make a decision.

I hope to see a lot of you out there.

Oh, and also. NON BOATERS: please PM me if you have interest and I can see if I can get you on a boat, as it stands I have 1 spot on mine. and I know a few other people have spots. Pleases PM me.

Everyone else who has questions/interest also use this thread or PM  me.

Friendly fishing outing. I haven't really got indications from anyone stating they wanted to make it a tourney, but bragging rights I'm sure will be heard...

I get home from school May 13th but anytime after that I would be interested in attending. I have to friends who are members too that would love to come and fish also.

I informed my wife that I would not be around the house on the 10th, so I'm planning to make it.

I'll have one seat for sure, and two if my regular fishing buddy can't make it.

I acually just found out that I may not be working on the 10th. Rhino or anyone else for that matter, if you still have that seat available I would love to fish this? If I'm too late, then no big deal, I'll try and hook up with someone else. Please PM if you can make a seat available. I am more than willing to pickup refreshments and gas expenses.

Thank you! This sounds really fun!

Although not totally in control of my life...April 10 seems to be shaping up for me as well.

C'mon you guys from southeastern, eastern or anywhere else, we're only 12 days plus a bit from April 10.  The fishing should be good, but even if it isn't, I'm looking forward to meeting other members from the forum.

My buddy, who is a member says he can make it.  There may be room for one more.  The third spot is tentatively spoken for.  Should know in the next couple of days.

I'm 90% sure I can make it. I should have a def by Wednesday latest...I'm hoping to know tomorrow.

EDIT: I'm not sure if this has been covered, but are we gonna need a permit from the town to fish this, almost like you would have to do for a T? Maybe a dumb question.

Nope just bring your fishing license and other paperwork if you are a boater just to avoid issues. I'm rapidly getting my boat ready, my tow package comes this week and if I am lucky I will get it out to do a test run this weekend at monponsett (plus scope out the waters to get an advantage lol!)

I just wanna make sure it goes okay before the 10th so I know where I stand. Crap that reminds me I have to get my trailer registered. damnit....add that to the list.

Jig you find a seat yet? if not I think I may have one on my clunker if you still need one, just waiting on my buddy to get back to me.

I guess I'm confused about which side we're fishing Sunday and what time we start and are we still on?

As far as I know, it'still on. I'm planning to be there unless I hear otherwise. As to the side we'll be fishing, I'm not sure. I'm planning to get there early. My regular buddy says he'll make it, so I'll have room for one more on my boat.

The forum being down for a few days while it was being changed over kinda put a crimp in things.

Logging on was a hassle. I had to put in my user name, not my screen name or email address.

Well the forum update seemed to slow down information on this get together. But alas, I am here.

I, along with others, Will be fishing the west side. It has slightly more shoreline, and being "pre spawn" the more shoreline...the and a more diverse amount of sport fish than the eastern side. The boat ramp is off of Rt. 58 ( Monponsett Road) I believe. ALSO: There is an access to east side if anyone so chooses for smaller boats to fit under, I/m not sure the clearance but I do know it's there.

I took my boat out for the first time today, it went ok. It is like I suspected, narrow. But the motor runs great. The bad news is its more catered to a one man boat. I mean, me and my father were cruising in it no problem, but I would like the freedom to roam, So that's what I will be doing on Sunday, Flying solo and getting taunted by you hooligans I'm assuming :) But that's ok, For some strange reason I almost prefer fishing in a boat alone, well on the Jon boats, I'm sure if I had a sweet boat it would be different...but not the case. heh. its peaceful. So I told my buddy not to come so I can have the freedom.

I will be planning to launch at 6 AM. I'm sure some people may not get there then, understood. Just yell "Bass Resource?!" to random boaters and we can get introduced, but I'm sure we will meet when people trailer up to leave and in the parking lot. Which reminds me. There is parking for about 10 cars+ trailers so that is good. But that being said it's another reason to get there easy.

I am also contemplating bringing my charcoal grill and cooking up some hamburgers for people to come to the parking lot at lunch time and pick up one and head back out, still debating. let me know if you're down.

ALSO: If you have been following the weather, they are saying that this Sunday may be the warmest day of the new year with clear blue skies and 0 wind. So, needless to say, let's hope it stays this way, will be perfect for fishing.

There are days left before Sunday and more details will come this week. Please do not hesitate to PM me or post in this thread, and if this is the first time you are reading this, please come! Boaters and non boaters we can work something out!

If you have not read this .PDF file (http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/habitat/maps/ponds/pdf/dfwmonpo.pdf) yet, I highly suggest you do so. Also, Here is a link to Google maps for an idea. West is to the left of both maps.

I'll be getting there early as well. How 'bout we send you a pm with our cell phone number? We can include screen name, and first name with the number. You can send the info via private message to those who will be attending.

We won't have to be yelling Bass Resource all over Monponsett. By the way, I still have a seat available.

Or, we can do this. Here's a pic of my boat.
