linehand Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Sebago lake has some biggies. And it is crystal clear. Over 300ft deep. Very nice scenery. I haven't been in years but I think its not too far from Portland. Quote
therevolution Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Every year my family goes to the grand lake stream area for a week long fishing trip. I hear there is an epic salmon run in the spring but only make it up there in august to bass fish. It is located near prinecton maine which is about 15 miles from calais. We stay at grand lake lodge. they have a website. decent rates on cabins and boat rental if you need. The smallmouth fishing is phenomenal. It is not uncommon to catch 3 lbers all day. Also tons of pickerel and perch. There is also lake trout but have never fshed for them. West grand lake is beautiful to fish on.Two words for bass fishing there. Junior bay. Its all the way at the back of the lake and take 30-40 minutes to get there but it is worth it. Quote

tjmaniac Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I would suggest two other good areas to fish, the first is the Poland Spring area including the Range ponds (upper middle and lower),and Worthley pond nearby the Range Pond State Park. Continue heading north toward the Wayne, Winthrop and Manchester area. there are awesome lakes in that area. I would strongly suggest Lake Androscoggin. I almost hate to say it, i't is my home lake, there are two particularly good spots, the cove where the boat landing is , is the best spot during pre-spawn and spawn. It is shallow and plenty of rocky areas for structure for the fish. Watch out for the loons, there is a breeding pair near the lily pads at the north west corner and the locals including myself are very protective of them. The other awesome spot is the south-western part of the lake where the Dead River outlet is. Also on the back side of Norris Island is good. Good luck and leave the big girls for me! Quote
