Super User Munkin Posted September 13, 2013 Super User Posted September 13, 2013 They do draw downs once in spring and once in fall each year, but I think this is earlier than normal and for a difference reason. I have heard it was due to some work being down at the dam but I am not 100% positive. Black Hills tends to get harder in fall, fish seem to get spread out. But I imagine the water color and draw down had an impact also. Hopefully it has picked up some I have a tourney there on Saturday. So how did you do Saturday? I am trying to decide between BH and the Upper Potomac for tomorrow. Allen Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 13, 2013 Super User Posted September 13, 2013 Going to Deep Creek on Sunday. Hoping to get into them. 2 Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted September 13, 2013 Super User Posted September 13, 2013 I got my limit and finished 2nd but it was a tough bite for most, normal fall fishing at BH. If you got into the right area you did well, otherwise it was a fight. Personally I would hit the upper potomac. If the cold front does not kill it off to much, or water didn't stain up real bad it could be a good bite there. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted September 13, 2013 Super User Posted September 13, 2013 I hit the river last week and the water is definitely cooling. You could feel it through the waders. Quote
basser89 Posted September 13, 2013 Author Posted September 13, 2013 So normally we keep fishing spots a secret, right. Since I respect all of you, I will let you in on this little 2 acre gem across from my work. I caught the above at lunch today, and yesterday likely around 3.5#'s. But I had a school of 3 fish all over 20" swim right in front of me. Looks to be a nice concentration of Bass here and I have yet to see any carp. Not a lot of shoreline to fish but some areas were just brushhogged. Location: Wedgewood Blvd., Frederick, MD That's too funny. Had an issue with the internet yesterday and the comcast guy was telling me about this place. So queation for you, where can you park to fish there? Quote

basser89 Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 Yeah Dramer, it is by the music and arts place. I did swing by after the comcast guy mentioned it to see where it was but wasn't sure where to park. I did see someone fishing. From what I could see from the truck, there didn't appear to be a lot of shoreline to stand. Quote
MARsSPEED Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 There is a strip of Commercial/Industrial Buildings next to it. I park with all the Eco lab trucks. I guarantee you will catch plenty I just can't tell you how big. The majority I have caught are 12". If I had a canoe, I feel I could pull out many large bass... Quote
Super User Munkin Posted September 14, 2013 Super User Posted September 14, 2013 Going to Deep Creek on Sunday. Hoping to get into them. They like to really lower the water level of the lake in the fall. I have seen a difference of like 6' between summer and fall. Allen Quote

There are also a few spots that have a path to shoreline. I fished for 20 minutes at lunch today and pulled out (2) 12" fish after an extremely high pressure cold front. The bass have a nice dark color to them. It seems to be pretty shallow have not seen any part more than 5 feet deep at the most. Like I said, I did have the small school of 20" fish swim by, no BS. Best part is that nobody seems to question you while you are there. Edit: I have only ever used one lure here, a pearl white 4" Zoom Craw... Quote

Dramer77 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 So yesterday me and Munkin got out to Black hills for a few hours on his boat..and man we were catch'n some Hawgs! LOL but seriously it wasnt a horrible day we landed about a Dozen fish between the 2 of us, had a few that came off right by the boat or spit the hook shortly after setting the hook.. We had a decent day id say after hearing how slow its been for everyone else... I gotta say thanks again to Munkin for the invite along , i really appreciate it, it was nice to get out on a boat with someone who can teach me some things and give me insight to being a better fisherman.. Def wouldnt mind getting out like that again.. 1 Quote

Which is the spot directly across from lake churchhill. One of my friends called it that once and it somehow stuck. LOL Quote

Bill Poch Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 If you had a choice to fish d**n 4 or d**n 5 on the potomac this weekend, which one would be the better choice? Quote
basser89 Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 Visited an old spot the other evening. Hit Sharpsburg pond for a little while. Managed 3 in the short time I was there on a soft stick bait. Got the unofficial word yesterday that I'll be getting a job offer for a company in Frederick on friday so things are starting to get back to normal! More than likely, won't have the boat ready until spring. Think I may hit somewhere for a little this afternoon. 1 Quote
