Ha, yes it was. You talked to my brother.  I don't even think to wonder when I see someone out fishing if they are a member of this board.

Looks like you all are still doing well with your fishing. We've been out a few times lately. Been catching some but all under 8 inches. I'm almost embarrased to ask this question but I'm going to anyway. I had something happen on the river Monday that really upset me. I caught a smallie...only about 7 inches. He hit a 5 inch Yum Dinger. Got him in and he was hooked deep in his tongue(Iguess). I had a hard time getting hook out with pliers...really a small area. Long story short he didn't make it. I know I could have cut the line and left hook in but was worried at his size it would have been too big. Just want to know what you guys do in that situation =  I had my son with me and really regretted the fish dying. Any help you guys can give would be apprecaited and if you have to criticize I can understand too.

Man, I'm bummed! Had to take a contractor job til I find a permanent one. Spent 2 of the last 3 weeks in PA so not much wetting the line for me. Hopefully I'll get out soon but til then, I'll have to live through you guys! LOL

We have water in PA, no excuses!

I'm aware of that SPEED. LOL! Actually didn't take any gear with me. Not sure where the next job is yet. May consider it next time.

What's going on fellas...brand new to the forum. I live in New Market and work in Germantown. Do most of fishing at Lake Linganore and the surrounding lakes, and ponds.

What's up everyone, I'm new to the forums and have only had an account for around two weeks. I'm from Carroll County, more specifically the Manchester area. I don't have my own boat yet (you have no idea how much it pains me to say that) but frequently use a john boat with a minn kota trolling motor on my girlfriends private lake/pond (I give it this designation because it is almost too large to be considered a pond. My personal best is roughly 8.5 lbs which I caught sometime last spring during the spawn. I cannot wait to get my own boat sometime within the next two years and start to fish the potomac! I look forward to getting to know all the other MD anglers on here!

I should have also mentioned that I grew up as a shoreline fisherman with my father, but have fished all of the reservoirs in MD with my friend and their boats. I love throwing spro frogs, senkos, spinnerbaits, jigs, and flipping and pitching. I would say my strongest attribute is flipping and pitching and that the technique I still need work on would be deep structure fishing.

Hi All,

I am new to this forum, new to fishing and heading to Centennial Lake tomorrow (Saturday) for my first fishing expedition there. I am eager to learn from you all, I read through the forum and it seems as if we have lot of experienced fishermen. If you have fished in Centennial Park, where are the best spots? I tend to arrive early 7am to try to have early success, when the fish may be looking for food! Oh one other thing, I understand there snakes in the park, what's your experience about these creatures? I don't have a phobia or anything, just don't want to interact with one tomorrow when I am there.  Thanks in advance for all your help.

Centennial park is over fished, and tons of folks on the weekend. I will suggest Lake Elkhorn, which I have caught many 3-4lbers. If you really want to fish centennial park, then I will suggest to go in the evening because less fisherman there. Another problem is the small animals if you are fishing from the bank, I have seem few snakes there but was able to see them before I get too close. There are few points near the boat rental house, run a small crankbait  or shakyhead.

Most of the time, I am fishing rocky Gorge (need to pay annual fee)  which I have caught a 6lber this year.

Thanks for your response. I went out there this morning, 8am- 11:30am. During my time there, I didn't see a single fisherman reeling any fish out of the water! Very disappointed, there was a little bit of current too, which may impacted the conditions. I plan to stop by later this evening 8-9pm to see if I can pull at least one, if not, then i will definitely try Lake Elkhorn.  Can you share additional details about Rocky Gorge membership details? I'd like to get into fishing on a regular basis, so if the cost of reasonable, then I am fine with paying to increase the odds of catching some fish.  Actually, Rocky Gorge is about 12-15 minutes from my house.

I suggest that you just give up on centennial park, really no point going there on the weekend. But if you can take a day during the weekday, then maybe give it a try.

Rocky Gorge is managed by WSSC, and here is a link that tells you about the program:

You can catch species like Bass, Walleye, and stripper. Shore line fishing is very limited, so you do at least need a kayak. It is an electric motor only lake, so make sure you carry at least few batteries in the boat. If you decide to fish there, then target different covers and stumps. Fishing is good in the morning close to the bridge, and I picked up a few today with swim jigs.

ohh, you can always fish lake Artemesia. It should be fairly close to you, the bass is not big in there but you do get few bites. It is close to University of Maryland, and they have a fishing club that "kinda" maintain the lake.

yep ill be out between 5 and 6 am

Don't know about you but I only caught dinks. Targeted some largemouth and failed then went up to the 81 bridge and caught short fish around the islands.

Largemouth or smallies? I passed you on my run up, I gave you a little wave I have a gray xpress. Got out way to late this morning for big slack to many boats on the water.
