Any of you Maryland fellas ever use any of the *** stuff yet?

i have used the ***, it is a pretty sweet rod for 100 bucks. I am using it for shaky head, and it is far better than my old veritas.

I just picked up a 7'3 H last night for a frog rod. Everyone had tons of good stuff to say so I figured why not. I used it this morning for a bit. It's not bad but I keep getting tip wrapped a lot with it while using it for flipping and I've never had that with my other rods. For $120 it's an ok purchase as far as a frog rod is concerned but for me it won't double as a flipping rod also.

Got out to black hills last night landed one about 5lbs. Hopefully can put a pic up shortly still stuck at work.

I was referring to the member above asking about *** black rods. That's what bought. I have a Lews TP on it with power pro #50. I just re read what I said and edited it. I was using it for flipping with a 1oz weight and 5/0 flipping hook. That's when the tip wrap kept occurring. It did fine with just a frog. It will be my designated frog rod.

Was able to get out this morning for a little while. Hit the pond in Brunswick. I found a lipless crank bite there. Caught 3 and the biggest went 3-5. Tried throwing a lizard and a spinnerbait as well but no takers. All 3 hit like a ton of bricks paralleling the shore, nothing out further.

Caught a nice one on black Jitterbug yesterday morning at Smithville Lake.  Also found a jointed Rapala.  Looked brand new except a hook was bent.  Guess someone pulled a snag free, bent it, and then didn't feel like fixing it.  Fine with me.  I got plenty of hooks.  Hope you guys had a good Memorial Day weekend and everyone is on some good fish.

has anybody had any luck on the Potomac above dam 4? been on the river the past 2 weekends and haven't caught anything.

Up past the game club

As you pass the game club and come around the bend you will see a buoy at that point I usually split the river in half and stay to the middle of west v side. You will need to have a jet and be paying attention. As you go up a little ways you will start to see the ledge across the river and at that point I start transitioning myself toward the right side of the river where there is a small break in the ledge maybe 5 foot wide making it passable. After that your own your own. Any where from the buoy up will be great fishing fishing right now. There is still some big fish in the deep water but if you want some action go up in the shallows.

I actually put in right behind you Sunday morning. On my way back down river later in the morning seen you behind me but my girlfriend was calling me and I had to shut the boat down. When you fish d**n 4 you target largemouth or smallmouth or what ever bass bites....lol

I only caught one sunfish Sunday around some sunken tree but my highlight of the day was finding what appeard to be a big rock point in the deeper water off a cliff ( playing with the down image and sonar) so I turned the boat around and made a long cast with a XD3 and thump here came a crappie. Landed 2 more after that and after going over the area a little more with the sonar there were a bunch more down there.

Yea I just got a humminbird 998c SI and I have been trying to learn and study how to fully use it. Making slow progress but what's it worth if I don't understand what I'm looking at. I find the bottom of the river interesting.

I'm available for boat rides and gas-sharing should anyone ever need it.  LOL

Hard to pull away from the bite I'm on right now though. ;)

I have a club tournament there next Sunday (Big Slackwater) so if you see a silver Xpress wave.  Last Saturday I went down to pre-fish some since I have only been there once or twice this year. I caught a ton of fish but only two keepers. One was about a 13" SM but the first fish was a 21" LM that I would say was 5lbs (hoping I can catch it again in the tournament). Tonight I found them but am still not on the larger fish that I want.

You can run your boat all the way until the first bend upriver from the game club. At that point it starts to get shallow and scary for a prop boat and the fishing isn't very good until you get up by the bridges anyway.
