Super User rippin-lips Posted April 22, 2013 Super User Posted April 22, 2013 I live about 45 minutes from Deep Creek and fish there pretty often. It's a whole different world in Garrett County. Quote

Super User Munkin Posted April 24, 2013 Super User Posted April 24, 2013 im gonna try and make it down there soon.. just dunno where to go lol You need to get these guys to tell you how to get to the stickups? I know how to get there by boat but not by foot. On a side note I found a high dollar topwater lure someone lost back there. If you lost one pm me and if you can identify it I will mail it back to you. Allen Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 24, 2013 Super User Posted April 24, 2013 Haven't lost a topwater, but there is a really nice spinnerbait on top of water the stick ups thats about 3 foot out of the water...wind blew my line across it on the cast. Couldn't get it free. There are a lot of good places, not just the stickups. Look for places with cover away from where the "easy" places to walk. The stickup are getting pounded every day, won't stay so good with that much pressure. Quote

Allen The lure floats on top of the water, now give it back. Just kidding. The only high dollar, if you want to consider it high dollar, I have is a $10 popper I bought with a bass pro gift card. The way I contribute lures to the fish Gods, I'm not spending big bucks. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 24, 2013 Super User Posted April 24, 2013 The two biggest fish I caught last Saturday (20.5" and 21.75") were both in the area that everyone refers to as the "chute". This year I have caught 5 bass in two trips at Black Hills over 5lbs. All of these fish were in areas that can be accessed by foot and all were within 12' of the bank. What I am saying is if you are trying to catch a nice fish now is the time to hit Black Hills. Allen Quote
Dramer77 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 one of the members on here talked about having a get together down there, id love to meet up with someone familiar with the area there to find my way around... i may try and go down this weekend on my own and see what i can find Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted April 24, 2013 Super User Posted April 24, 2013 Are there any boating restrictions at Black Hills? Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted April 24, 2013 Super User Posted April 24, 2013 ^ Disregard, I found it. Electric only. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 24, 2013 Super User Posted April 24, 2013 Munkin, yeah it does seem the average size in BH is going to be higher this year. Suspect the addition of yellow perch as a food source is the cause. Fish that friends and I have caught so far have been excellent. Speedbead, in Maryland if it is not Deep Creek lakes are electric only. You can have your big motor in the water but just cannot start it. Makes "blast off" for tournaments a little less thrilling.... Quote
sprirobass Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I hit the stick ups yesterday and managed to hook two 2lbers on KVD crankbait. I too, contributed a lipless crankbait and a spinnerbait to the fish Gods. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 27, 2013 Super User Posted April 27, 2013 Looks like I need to look for more lures at the stickups. Allen Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 28, 2013 Super User Posted April 28, 2013 You can probably find a tackle box full of baits around there. I know I have added a couple spinnerbaits so far this year, including the Megastrike Strikeback one in a tree 3 feet above water.... Quote
sprirobass Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 And I still see my jerkbait hanging from a tree at the backwash area since last year. :-) Quote
JigMe Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Anyone finding them on beds? I am still getting them from deeper water... Quote
Bill Poch Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Looks like I need to look for more lures at the stickups. Allen I just left a brand new crawdad colored lipless crank near the beaver d**n on a tree just under the suface, you can't miss it. I really need to get my Jeep bought so I can get the kayak out there and retrive my stuff. Quote
301-fisherman Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Oh I have lost so much tackle over there it isnt even funny! Quote
basser89 Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 I've lucked out for the most part, haven't lost much there this year but visits have been fewer than I wanted. I did get to wet some line this morning. Hit Cunningham Falls from 7-11. Managed 5, nothing big either. Saw a few dinks protecting a couple areas but nothing more than that. Caught 4 on a Red Eye Shad and the other came on a Yum Dinger. Given the conditions, I thought I could have caught a few on a spinnerbait, but no luck on them. Quote

I was by myself on the upper end on the boat ramp side. Saw 3 guys across the lake and 1 boat and one kayak on the water. Quote
