Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted April 8, 2013 Super User Posted April 8, 2013 If all goes well i will be hitting bh after work the next couple of evenings. With the temps the bite should really pick up Went out this morning. There was all kinds of activity all over the lake. In the past few weeks it was pretty much dead still. Today there was fish breaking the surface all over. I even got a topwater hit. I missed the fish but its a good sign. Caught a nice one a little later on chartreuse spinnerbait. 1 Quote

Super User BrianinMD Posted April 9, 2013 Super User Posted April 9, 2013 Stopped by Black Hills this evening, good spinnerbait bite going on. Caught one 21 1/2 inch, then lost the spinnerbait. So got lazy and fished for awhile with soft plastics with no bites. Talked to Ken for a few minutes, after he left tied on another spinnerbait and proceeded to get a 21 inch then a 19 inch largemouth back to back. 2 Quote

Bill Poch Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 What's the guess as to the water temp in the Potty near Dam 5? Ken Penrod has a weekly fishing report for the Potomac - this sunday he said the upper potomac at Point of Rocks was 50 degrees. http://www.penrodsguides.com/fishingreport.htm Quote

Bill Poch Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I hit up Baker Park on my lunch hour today, and only landed my personal best largemouth. 21" and had to be close to if not a 5 pounder. Of course I got a digital scale for xmas and the batteries were dead, so I couldn't even weigh him. He was nice and fat 1 Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 9, 2013 Super User Posted April 9, 2013 Congrats Bill, nice fish. A 21 inch largemouth will easily be 5 pounds. Dramer, Looking at the whole lake at once is to much to decipher. Take new bodies of water and break it down into sections, concentrate on the smaller section looking for the type of water to hold fish at that time. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 10, 2013 Super User Posted April 10, 2013 Hit black hills again tonight, biggest 3 were 19.5 inches 4.8 pounds, 21 inches no weight on that one, and a 22 inch 6.28 pounds. Someone showed up after i caught the first one with a scale. Hopefully will get pics up tomorrow. 1 Quote

After not being able to get into Black Hills on Sunday I'm itching to get down there, looks like things are really starting to pick up. The soonest I'll get to go will be Friday if we don't get the rain, if not then, I'll try for Sunday afternoon again. I'm going for some smallmouth in a creek up in Frederick, my brother checked it out today and caught one. I'm going to show him how it's done tomorrow. You need to wade to get to the hot spots in the creek, and I'm sure the water is way to cold for that. Quote

nastynate Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Nice looking fish guys. I'm gonna try to get out to big pool this week or Blair's valley with the boat and try to locate some fish. Me and my girl friend started a Facebook site for Marylanders to post up pics of fishing, hunting, shrooming, and outdoors type stuff. Check it out like if you want or post up pictures. Western MD Outdoors is the Facebook site 1 Quote

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted April 12, 2013 Super User Posted April 12, 2013 When I fished with Munkin, his outboard was on the boat so I think you should be ok just using the TM but with the big motor on. Quote

Alright thanks. There's a place here I want to fish but it can't even be mounted on the boat. So looks like I won't be going there anytime soon. Quote
