Thanks for the snake heads up Basser89. Ever since a close encounter with one at clopper, I'm always vigilant looking out for snakes when I'm fishing.

Welcome to the board sprirobass! I've been told that even though Lake Chrurchill is private the residents surrounding the lake do tolerate fishing. I've fished it once or twice and met a fellow angler who told me that he consistently catches 4-5 lbs bass there. That being said a trespassing ticket is probably not worth it.

BMBass- I'm pretty new to bass fishing and bought a new rod this season. I settled on a 7' MH/F as an all-purpose rod. I love the setup, BUT miss my 6'6" rod on the occasions when I'm throwing a topwater or working a fluke. I'm short (5'6') so the extra 6 inches makes a difference when I'm twitching the with the rod tip pointed down. I'm been holding the new rod to the side and pointed down which I'm still getting used to.

Don't know if all of you are aware or not but the guys from the Southeast forum are holding a Meet & greet at the State Park at Lake Anna Sept 22/23.

We'll have a random drawing at 0600 for Boater & Non-boater, and meet at the end of the day for big fish bragging rights and a cook out.

Some of us will camp arriving Friday and departing late Sunday or Monday; it's all very flexible. But we should have some fun around the Ole campfire.

Managed to get out to BH on Friday. A good amount of action with 4 fish, they were all dinks though with the biggest going 10". I went to pond afterwards which was completely covered with scum, but I did manage a nice 15" fish dragging a Senko across some pads on top. I've done this several times over there and just love it when they one through and just smash it!

Going out early in the morning on Sunday and wanted to see if anyone has made it out to the canal over at Dickerson recently. Given my limited time I don't want to waste time going there only to find that it's overgrown with weeds and almost unfishable.

Which pond that you went to Ken? I went to King's pond friday evening. That one is filthy as well. I only catch one small one.

Good to see you're still hanging around Traveler!

Ken, I've used that same technique several times with success. It's definitely a fun way to fish! I did fish the canal at Dickerson 2 weeks ago. While it was mostly covered with duckweed, it wasn't unfishable. I caught 8-9 that outing. Mostly on frogs and toads.

Speaking of frogs........ I got out this morning for a while. Decided to head back to the stick ups. I hit the grass mat back around the corner and for 45 minutes or so, I had their number! :) I was throwing the Strike King KVD frog (stump jumper color). 2 were "cookie cutter" size, 1 went about 2lbs, another about 2 1/2lbs and "lunker" went 3-10. Around 9 the action pretty much die. Tried a few other things (sub-surface) but no takers. Might be able to get out tomorrow morning. Not sure where I want to hit yet. Brian kinda has me thinkin about smallies. Dang you Brian! LOL!

Here's a pic of the big one from this morning.

Sprirobass, I went to a pond off 124. I'm not sure of the name of the pond. It's pretty small being only a couple of acres, if that. A friend of mine told me about it. It's in a residential area and I doubt it's fished very often. I will go back there in the fall when it should be a little more accessible.

Sean, sounds like you had a great day! Kevin and I plan on going out tomorrow morning at first light. I think I'll stick to BH and go over to the stick ups. I still haven't spooled my other spool with braid so I'll have to think twice before throwing my Koppers frog. Maybe we'll see you out there. I'll be sure to post to say how we did.

Kevin (KingFisher) and I got out today at BH, Basser89 joined us a little later. We started out around the corner from the stickups and I immediately caught one on a Fat Ika. After a few casts Kevin started throwing a Stanley Ribbit. I asked for one and said I might a well throw t the grass mat Sean mentioned. Wow...I made 8 casts an had 5-6 blowups! I finally managed to land one after a few more casts. Sean came up a little while afterwards, I was throwing a Koppers at this point. I had several more blowups on the frog and later on a Senko dragged across the top. We moved to a different grass may where a had 2-3 more blowups, but no hookups.

I've only been bass fishing one year and this was easily the most frustrating day ever. I wound up with two fish and somewhere around a dozen blowups. A lot of the blowups just missed, but I felt weight on about 4-5.

Mom said there would be days like this! Hopefully I be able to get out again next weekend. This time I'll have some braid.

hi everyone. im joe from ridgely down here on the eastern shore. i just started fishing and ive been hitting lake tuckahoe a lot. im a closing driver for dominos and i dont get off til like midnight so i usually just stay up and hit the lake at sunrise for 2 or 3 hours a couple times a week. i like it cuz its really close to my house but the weeds around the shore are so thick that theres only a handful of spots where you can get to the water. anyone know any other good spots close to me?

Welcome to the boards Joe, unfortunately I don't know your area but with the weeds like that I would start throwing frogs across it. Especially along the weedline, any wood in the grass, or any other irregular feature in the grass.

Has anyone hit Black Hill since the cool down in the past several days? Any noticeable change to fall pattern yet?

I can't wait to go out there.

It was 3 years ago almost to the day I pulled my personal best 6 lbs large out of BH... I am itching to get back out there but haven't caught many over the years in Sept at BH....

i got out for a power fish trip at noon onto the Potomac just north of Fletcher's and landed this nice smallie. I think it was probably 1.75 pounds

Sprirobass, Haven't had a change to get to BH since the cool down. Plan on taking a "sick day" friday. Not sure if I'll hit there or somewhere else. Decisions decisions....... Where ever I go, I'll be sure to post a report.

Basser714,happy anniversary. LOL! Gotta love those smallies! Congrats on your catch! What did you catch it on?

Well, I did make it out today. Hit Black hills first thing this morning and then a different spot this afternoon. The frog bite was ON again this morning! I caught 8 this morning in roughly an hours time and then things died about as fast as it started. Biggest 2 thing morning went 3lbs and 5lbs. The 5lbr measure 22 1/4 inches, happy b-day to me! Another citation! :D All the bass came on a Strike King KVD frog, Powell Diesel rod, 50lb Sufix braid spooled on an old Quantum Accurist.

This afternoon was really slow. I hit the one spot I know off of Wynnfield road. I managed one dink on a Yum Dinger.

Here are the pics of the 2 bigger bass from this morning's outing.

Thanks sprirobass! No, that's not at the stick ups, I was throwing the frog on one of the grass mats not open water.

Great looking fish there old man.... :)

That is something you don't hear to often in the same sentence, frogs and Black Hills.

Went down to Aquia yesterday with a friend from the club, not to bad of a day. I ended up with 7 nothing big, maybe 2.5 to 3 was the biggest for me. He had one about 4.5.

Nice catch Sean! I spoke to Kevin yesterday and we'll probably meet up on Sunday morning at BH.

This time I'm coming prepared...braid, a Koppers frog, and a couple of pack of Rage toads!

Thanks Ken!

Have my daughter this weekend so probably won't be getting out. Good luck! And let us know how you do!

I did manage to get a lunchtime outing in today. Popped over to Black Hills for a little while. Managed one on a Red Eye Shad. Nothing big, maybe 14-15 inches.
