basser89 Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 26" is citation size if I remember right! Nice job Kevin! I made it out once over the break. It was a last minute decision, otherwise I would have let you know Kevin. I hit PEPCO the monday after Christmas. Got there at the butt crack of dawn and the parking lot was completely empty. I thought this should be fun! I had checked the levels before I left and they were right where I wanted them too. Hiked up to the discharge and what do I find? They're not pumping any water??? Stayed there for an hour and a half and nothing the whole time. Didn't have the luxury of staying out all day so wanted to get something so I headed up to the canal. Managed one little dink out of the canal right behind the power plant on a tube. I did do a little exploring and found a few more spots that looked REALLY good, now I just need a little time to check them out more thoroughly. Got my license already so I'm good to go, just need to have some free time to get out now! Quote
basser89 Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 I should have seen this one coming but still a little shocked, they cancelled the 2012 MD fishing expo in Timonium this year. Quote
slaynbass365 Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Sean, if you ever wanna make a trip out to Pepco....give me a shout. I'm right on 28 about 10 minutes away, if that. Quote

dcfdpipeman Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I have to work on Saturday. Does anyone know if it's worth it to go on Sunday. basser89 Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 I believe Munkin attends this yearly. Hopefully he'll be able to chime in on whether sunday wouldn't be a waste. Looks like sunday would be the only day I'll be able to join you guys. Quote
Smiths.R Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Hey Guys Just wondering if you guys know a good place around here to get my reels repaired. I can send them off to Bass Pro, but that will take forever, and will be at least 20 bucks a reel...the one reel is only $50. Thanks for any info!! Quote

Super User BrianinMD Posted January 17, 2012 Super User Posted January 17, 2012 Smiths.R, I don't know of anyone local, when I need reel service I sent them to Delaware Valley Tackle. They are a sponser for the site, do great work, and offer a discount to BassResource members. Quote

I could stop by on my way home from Greencastle probably around 3:00PM. I could also be there on Sunday anytime that anyone would be there. Never thought about the last minute shopping angle but it makes a lot of sense. What do they sell there? Quote

It is both individuals selling new/used gear and small local tackle vendors. Each year it seems like they get more vendors like guys that sell custom rods, baits, etc. Allen Quote

basser89 Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 No reports here. Just wanted to give the heads up that with this snow and stuff we got today, I had to switch things around and won't be able to make it tomorrow either. Quote

wv Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I never made it out today. Anyone go? I guess the next big one up is Finksburg? old sykesville show My son and I rode over around mid-day Sunday. I kinda got a sneaky feeling there would be an admission when I saw one entrance was blocked. Got over to the other side and saw a $4 entry fee and passed on it. I guess I could have went in my self but would have left him outside in car and didn't think that was right. Saw two young guys come out but looked they only bought a really small bag of stuff and seen about four others getting ready to enter. Not really knowing what was inside I didn't think it was the money to find out. Maybe they only charged you if you bought something I don't know. Maybe next show I'll go by myself and check it out. How old is your son? I ask because even though they charge $4 for adults (not sure about children?) they give away a rod to every kid under 12 (I think that is the age cutoff). As for deals the best one I was able to find was 12 new bags of Yamamoto senkos for $10. The guy beside me sold 34 new Rapala Dt's for $25! I wish I would have ask him first. Allen Quote
LSummers Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 For anyone who is interested in FOBA...Our next cub meeting will be held next Wednesday, Feb. 1st at Dick's Sporting Goods in Gaithersburg. I would encourage anyone interested in friendly tournament fishing throughout the area to come check it out. We will be discussing our 2012 tournament schedule in more detail as well as general club functions. The season starts at the end of March so now is the perfect time to come and meet everyone! We haven't been out since Christmas Day at Sharpsburg Pond and I haven't bought our licenses yet for this year. Hope to get out before too long. Quote

Only 2 places come to mind on the Potomac in Washington county. Those 2 places are Big Slackwater (just above dam 4 and 4 Locks (above dam 5). I've fished Big Slackwater before and you'd have a good stretch you could fish, can't comment on how far you'd be able to run on 4 Locks. Maybe some other guys can chime in to give ya a little more input. Quote
brian_82 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I want to go fishing.... Who has been out? Anyone going anywhere this saturday? Quote
Fat Boy Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I saw the river today and it was up and off color, but not as bad as I would have thought given all the rain. In a few days, it should clear and drop, and the big smallies should be in their deep wintering holes waiting for our tube jigs...that said, I'm thinking walleyes and muskies since my ice fishing season didn't materialize. Anyone been to the Power Plant lately? Have they been generating any warm water? The Upper Tidal Potomac has been good according to Gene Mueller and his buddies. I haven't personally been down there yet though, but bass along with a mixed bag of other species are hitting stingray grubs, and I'd bet jigging spoons and blade baits would work well along with jig/pork combos. I'm hunting tomorrow and Tuesday hoping to cash in on the last days of bow season. But I could be talked into a fishing trip this weekend! Quote
basser89 Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Its been a few weeks since I've been out. I did hit PEPCO with BrianinMD and Slaynbass365. The sunday that we went wasn't extremely cold. We hit the warm water area for a while but they weren't pumping any warm water, even when they increased the flow for the kayakers, go figure. Ended up hitting the canal (at least the sections that weren't froze over) and between the 3 of us we managed 5 hits with no hook ups. Need to get out soon as well, just not sure yet when that may be. Good luck hunting Kevin! Quote
