Super User fishwizzard Posted May 5, 2016 Super User Posted May 5, 2016 That is not a bad idea and I do own one for my kayak, but I am very minimalist when I hike and a 31"x3" chunk of plastic would break my will to live. I am liking the tyvek idea more and more as it will fit in my "always with me" chest pack so unlike the net and hogtrough, I will never be tempted to leave it in the car. I do think it will work great for walking lakes where I am not far from the car, have a larger pack with me, and am not bushwhacking, thanks for the idea. Quote

Super User fishwizzard Posted May 6, 2016 Super User Posted May 6, 2016 Very Nice! I keep meaning to get out there, but I always fall to the lure of a closer spot. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted May 6, 2016 Super User Posted May 6, 2016 Great, thanks for the info. I fish out of a kayak, but also haven't been out in it in weeks. I think I prefer standing to sitting if I am getting rained on. Quote
Jtrout Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Anybody fish centennial in the last few days? Im gonna participate in the tourney tomorrow from a jon boat any advice would be appreciated! Thanks Quote

It is behind the football stadium, but way back in the woods. There are a ton of trails and google maps will get you there. However, parking is going to be the issue. I am going to look into options at the college, but otherwise you are looking at a ~2 mile hike in. Quote

I think you need a parking pass to park in the college lots but parking at the MARC station should be free. Pat Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted May 9, 2016 Super User Posted May 9, 2016 Yea, the station was one of the two places I parked the other day. I didn't cut through campus, which might be shorter, but took the more "scenic" route along the tracks and down by the river. I am going to try and head back later this week, maybe Thursday or Friday if anyone wants to tag along. Quote
imagine29028 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 rough day at Rocky Gorge yesterday...completely skunked. The weather is having its effects...water temps were 60-65, after 3 chilly weeks. We went from bluebird skies first thing, to sirrius clouds to a storm rolling in....Im sure the fish felt it too... Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted May 15, 2016 Super User Posted May 15, 2016 I was there as well, and didn't catch a single bass. I did get a very nice bluegill that I regret not measuring and taking a picture of. It was the biggest I have ever caught but he threw the hook and fell in my lap so I just dropped him back in the water without thinking. Quote
patred Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Caught 20 smallmouth yesterday and six today on the Potomac River near Antietam Creek. Biggest one was just over 15 inches (pictured) with a handful 12" and above. River was stained and looked to be a couple feet higher than normal. Tried the Ned Rig for the first time and it caught all but three of them. The other three were on a Shadow Rap including one fish that was just over 11 inches that I swear it was going to be a bigger fish when I was reeling it in -- he was ANGRY! Pat 2 Quote
Willbroberg Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Going to head out to Little Seneca tomorrow morning! Taking out my new boat for the first time with a buddy of mine. Wish me luck! Any idea what they might be up to? 2 Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted May 20, 2016 Super User Posted May 20, 2016 Nicely done! I hit a bowie pond yesterday as well and all I caught were two ticks. 1 Quote

Only two fish today off a SK bleeding buzzbait with a trout ripple shad trailer. Caught a small one on my first cast and for those superstitious folks, thought my day was over. Was looking to catch a snakehead for the grill, but was ecstatic when I caught her. She was back in the water after weighing and taking a pic. 4.49lbs. Is this the place you told me about? I still haven't gotten around to fishing it. On Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 2:40 PM, patred said: Caught 20 smallmouth yesterday and six today on the Potomac River near Antietam Creek. Pat Any specific place to park in that area. I'm not familiar with fishing there, but I've been dying to catch some smallies. Quote
patred Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Antietam Creek, you can park at the campground, usually plenty of parking, and then walk or bike the C&O Canal trail. There are a few access spots either downriver or upriver within a mile in each direction. Pat 1 Quote
nastynate Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Got to get down and fish lower Potomac Sunday. Fished the Kyle Hoffman memorial tournament out of leesylvania. It turned out to be the best day my partner and I have had down there. We scooped up first place with 20lb 12oz. The weather was unfavorable but the fishing was great. 6 Quote
npk33 Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 hey guys. been following the thread for a while but first time posting. i typically fish ponds in the montgomery/howard/carroll county area and just started fishing the canal. also take the boat out of leesylvania some. caught this guy in a pond in clarksville a couple days ago. always looking for someone to fish with. 1 Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted June 3, 2016 Super User Posted June 3, 2016 I am thinking about either taking my yak out to Rocky Gorge or hitting the C&O by Pennyfield on Saturday, anyone been to those spots lately? I am leaning towards RG as I suspect the canal will be packed, but I do love that place when the bite is on. Quote
npk33 Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 fished the rain at piney run yesterday afternoon. lost what would have been the biggest of the day but caught 8-10 in the 2-3 pound range and a few more smaller ones 2 Quote
Fried Lemons Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Caught 2 3lbers at Swain's Lock today on a spinnerbait. Surprise catch of the day was a 14" yellow perch on that same spinnerbait. 1 Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted June 4, 2016 Super User Posted June 4, 2016 Hah, I guess I should have gone to the canal, all I got at RG were a handful of dinks and a sunburn. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted June 6, 2016 Super User Posted June 6, 2016 Be careful out there everyone.... http://www.fox5dc.com/news/153582397-story The update I heard was they did not survive. Quote
