I went to the pond at Governors Bridge road yesterday.  I was determened to finally give senkos a try, but I am so d**n impatient I gave up after a few short strikes I switched out to a 4" Impact and immediately caught two little 12" guys.  I returned to the senkos and fished the entire small pond and got nothing else.  After dusk fell I switched back to the Impact and caught one more 12"er.

I am not a good-slow fisher.

Nice job!  So far my local ponds have never produced anything nearly that size.

Also, someone told me there was a pond up past gambrill that had a ton of big bass, he told me to look up Hamburg, but I can't seem to find it, any ideas where he is talking about?

Hey man, nice Fish.I found this about Hamburg pond.I

Getting There: Head north on I-270 towards Frederick; merging onto US 15 and then taking exit 13B onto US 40 W/Baltimore National Pike. After driving through a built-up area that features several stoplights, US 40 eventually turns into a decent high-speed road. Follow it for approximately 8 miles to turn right on Harmony Road. Turn right on Coxey Brown Road and follow it until it dead ends on Gambrill Pike Road. Turn left. Be alert for the right-hand turn onto Hamburg Road. The pond is on the right approximately 0.6 miles from the turn onto Hamburg.

After the turn, be alert since the entrance to the pond is unmarked. The only indicator is a 25 yard stretch of side road and the glimmer of water through the underbrush. If you do not have a high clearance vehicle, take care as you cut right onto the "service road." There is plenty of room for parking here – both on the service road or on the main dirt road.

What's up guys ? Made it back to little Seneca myself early this morning . I launched off right at 6:00 and was able to get to the area I wanted to fish before the sun broke the horizon . Interested thing is with it being prespawn and water temp right at 50 degrees the fish were extremely active . Breaking the surface , chasing bait , etc. That's something I haven't seen to often. Anyway , if anyone is going this weekend bring spinnerbaits . I caught another handful of fish in the 2 to 3 pd range with this nice anchor.

Made it out to Black Hills on Friday with only a half hour to fish before picking up my daughter from school.  10 minutes throwing a white fluke, nothing.  Another 10 minutes throwing a white spinnerbait, nothing.  The water was muddy so t-rigged a dark senko with a chartreuse tail.  Bingo! 4 casts and two fish later a 15" and 17-18" chunks.  Wish I had more time!!!

What's up guys ? I got a chance to go back to little Seneca this morning , it was a rough morning with water Temps back in the 40's and still stained. I still managed to catch a few on swimbaits and spinnerbaits . If anyone goes there later today,  post what you encounter as far as temp and activity goes. I was there at 6:00 and the temp didn't budge buy noon, so I called it . Hopefully going back out in a couple days .

Went out exploring at Harper's Ferry today. After hiking up and seeing the awesome view I tried looking around for spots to fish the Potomac, found a little spot I was able to cast from but no luck! Gonna be exploring the Potomac a lot as it warms up, just need to find some spots that I can wade and shore fish from. Any tips?

And any tips for fishing Little Seneca from the shore? Always has had me a little bit scared to try. Never fished anything so vast from the shore, would have no clue where to start!

There's a parking area on the C&O Canal just downriver from Harper's Ferry where there is easy access to the river.  It's just off of 340 upriver from Brunswick.

Hi everyone,

New to the site but not fishing. Just bought a kayak and plan on fishing Black hills this Sunday morning. Any advice on what I should be throwing(lures, colors, patterns and etc) would be greatly appreciated. I'll be putting in off of rte 121 from the Boyd's side. Any locations to target(drop offs, shallows, points, timber etc.)?

I have heard the spinnerbait bite has produced a few decent fish. I would look for fish moving up from deeper water. Good luck

I will be on Black Hills Sunday morning myself, just hoping the temp drop doesn't give them lockjaw.

i've hit the Gorge 5 times already this year. fished the cold, wind day this week (?Monday) until my hands went numb in four hours (skunk).  only 9 fish total.  very spot specific and moody, e.g. nothing, nothing, nothing then two fish in a row off the same stumps.

on the plus side, best fish are 5lb14oz, 5lb8oz, 4lb4oz and approx 34" striper (big head but skinny).  talk about quality over numbers!  not complaining but more a lottery than a pattern.  a few special spots have paid off but I feel lucky to get those few casts with big fish attached.

powerfishing the cold water.  big plastic and minnow baits.

Anyone on here ever throw swim baits on Black Hills with success? Huddlestons, triple trouts or etc?

Just got a message/pic from a friend that fishes Lake Linganore as well. They pulled this beast out today. Measured 25" long and 18" around. I hope I hook into one these girls this year!

Went to the C&O today. The fish were hitting shallow crankbaits banged against cover.

What stretch of the canal? I have only ever fished the Dickerson section with not too much luck. How do you know where it's holding water? Maybe I could find a stretch a little closer to me.

Hit up a pond in Crofton Tuesday for a bit and only caught one, a 4.12 lb on a honey craw rattletrap. The next day my buddy caught a 4.93 lb on a chili craw 1.0 in a pond in Bowie. To top it off, I caught my PB and second ever snakehead yesterday at the same pond in Bowie at 6.5 lb off a 3/8 booyah spinnerbait with a blur purple skirt.

What pond is this? I've been waiting to catch a snakehead for some time now.

Fished Concord pond in Seaford today. 18 boats only 3 limits caught. 13.10 won it, big fish 3.92. Jigs in the very few lily pads avail did the trick.

Went to Black Hills today and caught what is easily my PB.  Slowing swimming a senko with a chartreuse tail (again) and she inhaled it...I knew it was big when I set the hook, but I almost ticked on my myself when she broke the the water.  I don't have a scale but easily 6-7lbs- and yes, I know that means nothing without a scale, but I'm pumped anyway!!!

BraininMD- My witness is the guy who caught that tank several years ago.
