I usually throw jigs this time of year. Just a 4" Zoom Fat Albert Grub Black & Red flakes also works well.

I saw you have a kayak, me too. If you want some smallmouths, put your yak in on the Potomac at the Mouth of Monocacy boat ramp.  It's an easy paddle up river so you don't need to worry about somebody dropping a car downriver for take out.  I've fished that area pretty hard the last 2 years and did really well last year.   I would normally put in, paddle out to the Potomac and paddle up to the first island and fish/float back down. Rinse and repeat.  I caught about a half dozen 18 inchers last year.

this is such crap, i support them cleaning it up etc.. but not relocating the fish is ***, there are alot of nice fish in there..

Caught nothin but some salad at the pond yesterday, tried throwing black and blue chatterbait and hopping a jig. Guess it needs to warm up a tad more.

To reply on the topic of big fish in black hills, I did ok there last fall , caught 3 in the 4 to 5 pd range. There's actually a guy in the last issue of bassmaster magazine sporting a 10 pounder he caught there last year.

I heard about some nice fish caught of there last year, I've not tried yet.  It's the smaller one right, not the bigger one on the other side of the bridge off Monocacy rd/

Sounds good, I remember you from Reddit and the great fish you caught at culler. Sucks about Culler, had some nice fish in there and didn't have to walk 3 miles to cover the lake.

Yup, chasing down food and pinning them up against the bottom and or rocks.

Checked out the weather forecast this week and it looks GREAT.  The warm weather should definitely stir things up a bit.  I'm looking forward to getting out at Black Hills this weekend and seeing what's out there. Has anyone else been out recently?

Yeah, I fished Jackson Pond few times last year and largest one I caught is 2.7lb. I rather fish at Rocky Gorge and you can pull out 5-6lb from time to time. Or go to Loch Raven and you can rent a boat for 30 bucks.

Got out for a short outing saturday morning. I hit the Potomac long enough to realize that dam 4 is still a community spot and fishing like it's opening day of a kid's trout derby just isn't for me. Had a thought of checking Black Hills out but the thought of a some smallies or even a walleye just tempted me a little more. LOL

Dam 4 is the only spot on the Upper Potomac where I've seen other people fishing nearly every time I've been there.  Most places, I'll fish for a few hours and not see anyone else other than people on the C&O Canal Trail.

Going to be doing some bank fishing tommorrow. Live in the Germantown Gaithersburg area. Just moved here from south jersey. Anyone know of any spots I can hit up? 

Already hit little Seneca but I'm still unsure of how to get around it, especially on the banks.

Just went fishing yesterday and today at Urbanas Fish management pond. Not even a nibble! New thermometer said the water was at 58 degrees.. Saw some bluegill swimming around in packs off the bank a ways . I was throwing a black and blue chatterbait, soft plastic swimbait , and Drop shot, guess it still needs to warm up some more!

Went out yesterday to Lake Elkhorn and got my first (4) fish of the season.  Nothing special in size, but nice to be catching bass again...  Mostly caught on Mepps inline spinners.

I have been out of town for a week now, dying to get back home and out on the water.  

I am really interested in trying my hand at some of the assorted top water lures I have collected over the winter.  When do you guys usually find the topwater lures start becoming productive?

Think it was mid to late April before topwater turned on ...but we had ice on the water still at this time last year.  So hopefully in the next 3- 4weeks.  I had good success with hula poppers and heddon torpedos for April and May and then June through September was all frogging.

Hit the dam up at Linganore today. Caught 5 different species of fish including a tiny smallmouth. Still haven't caught any LM larger than 14". The main lake is still too cold as I have hit some familiar areas with no hits what so ever.

Is that lake decent for kids? Always looking for places to take my son who is 7.
