Super User BrianinMD Posted January 3, 2016 Super User Posted January 3, 2016 Tridelphia is closed for at least 2 years, they are lowering it about 20 feet to complete work on the dam. The worrisome part is there have been discussions before that WSSC wanted to close it to boats. Wondering if the 2 years will turn into this permanent closure. Quote

There is a spot by some baseball fields where there are a couple paths that lead down to the Little Patuxent. There's also a good parking spot along Guilford Road with trails that lead up and down the river. If you have a mountain bike, you can cover a lot of ground. Maryland DNR should start stocking trout soon. The river also has smallmouth and panfish as well as channel catfish and fallfish ... supposedly some snakeheads but I haven't caught any yet. Pat Quote
GeologyRocks Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I hit Little Pax yesterday morning for a few hours...didn't even see bait fish. Threw everything I had in my tackle box. Quote

Threw everything I had in my tackle box. I haven't really caught much on the Little Patuxent since July or so. Once the water got clearer, it has been tough. April through June was pretty good for me with a couple 15" smallmouth (26 fish total, 17 were smallmouth). Since then, though, I've caught one 10" smallmouth and nothing else really noteworthy. GeologyRocks Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Walked around elkhorn a bit today using small spinnerbaits and throwing a senko or two. Didn't see any signs of life. I was mostly on the NW side. Quote

Mind sharing where you go/park? What do you use mostly? I've also heard mention of people fishing in little Pax behind the Ft Meade water treatment plant that's right on the south side of 32 across from the Ft Meade gate. Anyone tried that area? Looks like some decent depth driving by. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted January 9, 2016 Super User Posted January 9, 2016 I fished there several times since I use to live close by. A lot of those fallfish but I did catch some small SM. White Roostertail spinners are what worked best. Allen Quote
GeologyRocks Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Do you just park in the gravel area across the street from the plant and just walk across the bridge down to the banks? Quote
superbee76hotrod Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 anybody know the date for cabin creek basmaster show? Quote
imagine29028 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 16th and 17th...depends on my work schedule if I go. Took home some great stuff last year. 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted January 11, 2016 Super User Posted January 11, 2016 That is what I use to do back in the day. From the bridge if you go west it was better fishing. Allen Quote
Super User Munkin Posted January 11, 2016 Super User Posted January 11, 2016 They changed the name of the show. I will be there both days trying to sell some of the "extra" tackle that has accumulated in my basement over the years. The River Rock Bassmasters are having their 13th annual flea market at the; Washington County Ag Center 7313 Sharpsburg Pike Boonsboro, MD 21713 On January 16 and 17. The Ag center is located about 10 minutes South of the Hagerstown Outlets (Exit 29 on Rt 70.) Allen 2 Quote

JeepFisher Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Took me several days, but I made it through this thread(thanks to the snow). What a great wealth of info and community. I usually fish the Columbia Lakes(and occasionally Culler Lake) from Spring to Fall in the early early morning before work and try to get out once a weekend. As a relative noobie (fished of course as a kid and occasionally on vacations) I focused on topwater last year most of the year. I really got back into fishing 2 years ago (thanks to the economy). I started at Elkhorn fishing squarebills, lipless, and some jigs. This year I need to focus more on jigs and worms but I know once the summer hits I will be back to froggin, cant resist that topwater bite! Anyway just wanted to introduce myself officially and if you fish Elkhorn you may see me around and probably occasionally at Culler. I have a kayak and if any of you would like to setup a yak outing this year i'd be interested. (Have only taken it out on Mattawoman Creek and Elkhorn.) Tight Lines! Gerry Quote

I have all sorts of info from the headwaters to the mouth. Been fishing all over that river for 20 plus years. Waterford is an absolute disgrace, AA co should be ashamed. HO co takes care of thier water and parks. I wont even take my daughter to Waterford to play bc its gross. Quote

Only have my heavy kayak so I actually head out to Columbia more than Magothy. Tried Waterford yesterday for crappie/sunfish/stray bass and nothing. Quote
