Edub Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I was thinking about taking the kayak to piney run this weekend. Never been to the lake before and I was wondering if the fishing is worth the entry fee. If its good any info would be great. Quote
nastynate Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Been hitting Blair's valley after work in the mornings here lately testing out jig patterns. It's been pretty productive from the bank but going to have to get the boat out check some deeper areas. Lost about a 5-6lbr this morning. Here is a good one from last week. 1 Quote

southern basser Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I'll probably be out there tomorrow morning early. Weather permitting . When is the last time you were there? What was the water clarity? Quote
nastynate Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Hit the lake this morning. Clarity is good. Quote

southern basser Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Ok thanks . If it Rains enough it will be chocolate milk for a few days after. Went to big pool this morning and caught a half dozen. Nothing to brag about just 1 1/2 to 2 pds. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted June 23, 2015 Super User Posted June 23, 2015 Had a tourney on the lower potomac Saturday, not the best day ever. Got a few in the morning but as soon as the sun popped out the bite died. Ended up winning coangler side but only had 4 fish for a little over 9 pounds. Quote
southern basser Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 You obviously you did better than the other Co anglers. Congrats. Does anyone know of any other open tournaments in the area in the near future ? Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted June 24, 2015 Super User Posted June 24, 2015 Thanks, it was a grind for everyone that day. The tournaments I fish are not opens, I am part of a club (Fish on Bass Anglers www.fishonbassanglers.com) based in Germantown. We fish Black Hills, lower Potomac, Anna, Gaston, Deep Creek and Conowingo. Some years we do a different place but those are our staples. We are always looking for new members, boaters and co-anglers. Quote
southern basser Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Ok sounds good . Thanks for the info, I'll look into your club on line. Quote

Does anyone know of any other open tournaments in the area in the near future ? There is an evening tournament coming up here soon. It's on Lake Habeeb 'Rocky Gap' state park. Start time is 4:30. It was supposed to be last Saturday, but it was canceled due to the weather. I'll see if I can get you an exact date. $40 per team, and part of that is towards lunker. Quote

Bill Poch Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I read that a boat went over the d**n this afternoon on Lake Linganore with 9 people on it. Not much info - http://www.fredericknewspost.com/public/rescue-at-lake-linganore-dam-people-in-water/article_924be634-618c-5b12-85d1-ef2f10f7a851.html Edit - 1 person did not survive. Quote
DaleGribble Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 New to Maryland fishing here. Usually go to Clopper Lake as it is nearby. Went to Black Hills yesterday and was not as impressed as everyone else was. I launched my kayak out of the soft launch near the 121 bridge. Any tips for fishing this side? Is one side better or have more structure to fish other than the apparent gradual rock slopes I saw? Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted June 30, 2015 Super User Posted June 30, 2015 Welcome, Black Hills is full of wood, grass and points. Either side is good, I don't really have a preference. As far as the fishing BH is way better than Seneca for numbers and size. It can be a humbling place until you get to know it. Tourneys there take 18-19 pounds to win 1 Quote

Is one side better or have more structure to fish other than the apparent gradual rock slopes I saw? Much of the most prodctive structure/cover on BH is stuff that you can't see above the water. There is some standing timber in the lake that you can see, further back in both the Seneca and 10-mile arms. The lake is full of underwater stumps, trees, rocks, grass, and even man-made cover...You can find them with electronics or the old-fashioned way . Being around any of the previously mentioned items in 10 to 20 feet of water should get you bit . Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted June 30, 2015 Super User Posted June 30, 2015 If Logan (stratos20ss) gives tips on BH take it all in. He is an outstanding fisherman anywhere especially at BH. I want to be like him when I grow up! He is the 2 time defending angler of the year in our club.... 1 Quote
DaleGribble Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Thanks for the help guys. Any tips on getting a kayak in closer to Little Seneca Creek? Quote
