jtphenom Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I will definitely need to check out Lake Artemesia then. lol Quote
nastynate Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Dang my job site is about 1/2 mile away. But I won't be striking around to fish after work. Quote
Bill Poch Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Hit a few ponds around Frederick today. Bass are starting on their beds. Fishing was slow today, but I wasn't at work so it was a good day. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted April 15, 2015 Super User Posted April 15, 2015 I went Monday here in Western Md. Fishing for bass and ended up with 3 plus 3 brown trout. Quote

Jtrout Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I've been hitting lake elkhorn in columbia and it's almost spawn time see them close to the bank and have had them only take spinnerbaits. Good luck guys on your tourneys! Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 16, 2015 Super User Posted April 16, 2015 Good luck in your tourney's this weekend, I do not have one this weekend but will be at Lake Gaston for a 2 day tourney next week. Cannot wait, love fishing Gaston just hoping for some decent weather this time. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 17, 2015 Super User Posted April 17, 2015 I owe you an apology Allen, after talking to you on the ramp briefly I didn't realize it was you until about 45 minutes later when I had an out of the blue moment of clarity. Sorry I did not stop and talk more, after 2 days on Anna, and a lack of sleep was out of it. I am sorry. We stopped and fished for crappie for a little while to start, got a little mess of them for my boaters dinner. Bass fishing started out okay, mostly a jerkbait bite, but died around noon. Everything disappeared including the crappie we were catching earlier, depth finder was barren so we called it a day. Figured you were crappie fishing at first based on where you were at? Water was really dark so I only made a few casts with the jerkbait. I caught 8 but nothing of any size? Biggest was 4lbs at most. Allen Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 17, 2015 Super User Posted April 17, 2015 Yeah, that seemed to be the day. Good in the morning but no size then everything disappeared. My first tourney there will be May 9th, should be a completely different place by then. Last year at that time it took over 20lbs to win, right now 17-18lbs would most likely be okay. Quote
Jeremy pharmareaps Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Had some fun on some local ponds in the,Crofton area with the 3wt. Also a ton of snakehead in depot pond... Some very large. Quote
aeb603 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 anyone on here fish Loch Raven? Been this year? Interested to hear how others are making out Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 19, 2015 Super User Posted April 19, 2015 Heads up, drove over the Black Hills last night, not fishing just going for a walk with the wife. But, there are signs going in saying the road the entrance to the park is on will be closed effective April 27th. Cannot find any information about how long it will be closed. It appears they are replacing the bridge right before the park entrance, looks like we will need to go into the park from the 355 side for awhile. If I find out how long it will be closed will post an update. Quote
Bassaholic84 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Hopefully they will fix all the potholes in the road Quote
nastynate Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 The Shenandoah was up and flowing yesterday. Perfect day for my relentless spinner bait fever. We rounded up 13.6 to take second place. There was only a 14 boat turn out. Think the high waters scared some people away but they missed out on a solid day of fishing. Down side is my tournament winnings will go towards replace about 5 spinner baits and a couple crank baits. Fish were around there spawning flats and of course current breaks. I started the first half of my morning strong putting 5 in the live well before noon and befor my partner could catch one. Things changed in the after noon. Looking in the live well I could see all the crawfish the fish were throwing up and tactics changed. Threw on a red craw spinner and my partner tied on a jackal aska craw pattern. Two cast in I broke off a 4 pounder 3 inches from the net. Not only did she break me off she proceeded to jump two minuets later throwing the Spinnerbait from her mouth. Felt like a big FU. My day was done but my partner finished out are our day by culling out a couple fish with his crank bait. Only one fish under 15" was caught. Not a bad way to end my weekend and get some side cash. RedskinsFisher Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Is there any vegetation in Artemesia? They cleared it all out a few years ago but i havent been back there recently. Used to catch a few bass there as a kid with a bobber and worms haha Quote

Used to catch a few bass there as a kid with a bobber and worms haha There was not much when I was there. I fished the back by the bridge and channel. Yesterday I went out to Linganore for a little less than 2 hours. Caught 6 fish, nothing over 17". Most of them had nice bellies on them like this. Quote
Jeremy pharmareaps Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Few decent fatties out of the governor bridge natural area on the 3wt with the perch streamer. (Enrico puglisi) Quote
MARsSPEED Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 So I took one of my neighbors' to the lake and he caught his PB. He just started fishing again but has only used worms with his kids. Made my day to see someone new to fishing enjoy it so much. Here is his fish. 1 Quote

KenLattimore Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I've been out to Black Hills the past four weekends and have absolutely nothing to show for it. I threw spinnerbaits, jigs, Keitech Fat Seing Impacts, senkos and Fat Ikas. The only thing I didn't throw was a jerk bait or crank. That being said, the past two weekends it looked like the crappie fisherman were doing well. On the other hand, I got to take my five year old daughter out for sunfish last weekend and she managed to catch three all on her own (I cast it out for her)...apparently her old man could pick up a few lessons from her! I'm bank bound so access is pretty limited, but I'm pretty surprised I have nothing to show for my efforts. I'll be giving it another go this weekend... Quote
Preetmandavia Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I've tried Black Hills to no avail as well. I've used cranks, worms, chigger craws, rat-l-traps and a frog....not one bite. Tried the boat dock, the wooded area by the pet exercise lots and the little alcove about 300 yards to the left of the boat ramps Quote
