Super User Munkin Posted March 25, 2015 Super User Posted March 25, 2015 http://www.fishingnotes.com/fishing-report/md/Little-Seneca-Lake I have no idea how accurate that site is at estimating water temp but its saying 43 According to that site Black Hills is a good SM lake? I have only seen one SM in ten years of fishing that lake. Allen Quote

Bill Poch Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Took some time off from chasing those dam eyes and went after some hogs That's what I'm talking about. Looks like you had a killer day on the river Quote
nastynate Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Was a great day. Only caught 16 fish but we did a little running around spot checking. Two over 20 and three 18 were our best 5. I'm thinking we had close to a 20lb sack. The day before we went town VA and found found a mix bag of fish but nothing like those footballs. 3 Quote
Bill Poch Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Hit Baker Park today at lunch, ended up being an impromptu BassResource meet up. I meet MARsPEED and Munkin while I was fishing. It's cool putting a face to a name now. Anyway, landed one fish, just happened to be my personal best 5.3lb Edit - just had a friend tell me the road closed sign at black hills boat ramp is gone. 6 Quote

Wish I would have known that was Allen. I would have introduced myself. Anyways, nice fish! I'm glad I had the oppurtunity to snap a pic. This weekend looks to be slow. May stop by the small lake at Linganore when I get off work today. Quote

basser89 Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 Finally had a chance to get out this morning. Started off at Black Hills but was way more stained than I prefer so went in search for some cleaner water. Ended up at Baker Park, and despite the cold front, managed 2. First went 3 and the second went 4-8. My drought is finally over! 3 Quote
MARsSPEED Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Aweso Finally had a chance to get out this morning. Started off at Black Hills but was way more stained than I prefer so went in search for some cleaner water. Ended up at Baker Park, and despite the cold front, managed 2. First went 3 and the second went 4-8. My drought is finally over! Sounds like fun! I am still 0-for at Baker Park. Way to catch'em after this crazy cold front. Does anyone fish the creek in Baker Park? Quote
jtphenom Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 You aren't supposed to fish the creek there unless you're 16 or younger. You can get fined. Quote

basser89 Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 Bill, I can tell you the water back at the stick ups is stained, borderline muddy. Had I known, I would've either tried another part of the lake or just went somewhere else. Quote
jtphenom Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Muddy water means more oxygen. You just need the right colors. Quote
BigTerp Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Planning on hitting the Potomac tomorrow. What has been working well for you guys fishing the river so far this "Spring"? Quote
Bill Poch Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Bill, I can tell you the water back at the stick ups is stained, borderline muddy. Had I known, I would've either tried another part of the lake or just went somewhere else. Thanks Basser. I am going to target other areas if that's where I end up tomorrow. I have such a love/hate relationship with that place. I know there are some killer fish in there, I just have a hard time reading that place. I was doing alright last year figuring out an evening summer pattern, but outside of that I still have to put a lot of time into that place to figure it out. I have some places I want to target for the pre-spawn, just not sure how effective they will be from shore. I have a 3/4 oz Red Eye shad I want to put on my baitcaster and see how far I can chuck that thing. So between Black Hills and Dickerson for the Potomac, I just can't decide which place is going to give me the best chance of catching something. The Potomac at Dickerson was 45 degrees this morning so I'm thinking it's getting warm enough to get the smallies moving. Point of Rocks is at 3.9 feet so if I run down to Dickerson, I'm hoping that's enough water to bring them up on the the long shelf that runs down the MD side. I could target the canal as well. I know you guys have said there some fish in there, but I've not caught anything yet and it was iced over a few weeks ago when I gave it a try. Planning on hitting the Potomac tomorrow. What has been working well for you guys fishing the river so far this "Spring"? I'm not expert for early spring river fishing, but if I'm fishing the Potomac tomorrow, I'm starting with some 2 3/4" tubes. 1 Quote
BigTerp Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I'm not expert for early spring river fishing, but if I'm fishing the Potomac tomorrow, I'm starting with some 2 3/4" tubes. Thanks!! Got out for a few hours yesterday with no luck. Anyone been on the river lately can tell me what the surface temp is? My cheap Lowrance X-4 was reading from 43-44 yesterday, but the Williamsport treatment plant said 49. Wondering how accurate my sonar is. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted March 30, 2015 Super User Posted March 30, 2015 Finally got some time on the water, went down for a couple days to the hot side of Lake Anna. Fishing was good, caught a bunch of fish but biggest was only 3.5 pounds. Just wish air temp would have been higher, about froze each day. Needed to get out before my first tourney in two weeks. Not sure what BH looks like now, figured the heavy rains clouded it up. Look for the cleanest water you can find there, especially if you can find a line between dirty and clean water. They will do their best to get out of the dirty, crappy water. First rule of fishing dirty water, try to find clean water. if not available fish shallow. 1 Quote
nastynate Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Black hills was awesome for me last year with the dirty water. Also dirty water heats up quicker they say. Hoping to get down there sat or sun. Big girls are waiting for me. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted March 31, 2015 Super User Posted March 31, 2015 Finally got out this weekend for two days on the hot side of lake Anna. Fishing was good both days for numbers, big fish was only 3.5 pounds. Only issue was it was nasty cold both days and raining half of Friday. New custom rod from DVT was great, got most fish on it and the big fish. Quote
fishangdood Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 How you doing fellas? Central, MD Howard County checking in. So I was at the Hanover Bass Pro small talking and what not when John told me that the Rocky Gorge (T. Howard Duckett Water Shed) pool at the bottom of the dam has Walleye. Can anyone confirm this or has anyone even fished the area before? Tight Lines, Rio Quote

RedskinsFisher Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Finally got out to Rocky Gorge yesterday morning in my new yak! It was pretty windy and I ended up catching 3 to break it in. I'll be going there and Triadelphia alot now that the weathers getting warmer 1 Quote
MARsSPEED Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 The bite is starting to move closer to shore at Linganore which I am sure means the same for Black HIlls. I had my first productive day this year. Caught five including my first smallmouth on the main part of Linganore. Was around 16". Didn't think to take a pic Water temp still a little on the cold side at 54*. All fish caught on my goto Zoom Fat Albert Black w/red flake on Charlie Brewer Slider. This one was just about 20" and looks to be eating. A smaller one from yesterday. Hopefully will be out again next week. 4 Quote
